How To Make Best At-Home Movie Night
When endeavoring to have a movie night at home, what kinds of things can you do to make it as enjoyable as possible? Well, here is a list type post including things for great movie nights. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel but there are certain things that make it just that little bit more special.
1. Projector
These days you don’t even have to fiddle around with laptop connection cords or complicated projector units. You can purchase a relatively inexpensive projector that is compatible with your smartphone. Simply slide your smartphone into the product and enjoy the video immediately; no messing about. It’s so much better watching a movie on a large television, and gone are the days when we had to huddle around a smaller screen. Good riddance!
2. Mini projector
Having a purpose-built mini projector is an excellent investment. You won’t need to fiddle around with any wiring or even connect your smartphone. A wireless projector will be able to connect to your wifi and access anything you usually enjoy, Netflix or whatever. To top it off, your home movie theater can of course also be filled with comfy and snuggly blankets. Why not make a blanket fort in which kids can utterly embed themselves into this exciting, entertaining experience.
3. Speakers
So you’ve got everything in place on the food and video-streaming front, but the sound is the thing that really helps you to recreate the experience of being in a movie theater. At increasingly attractive prices, you can invest in two rear satellite speakers to complement your front two speakers in order to create that surround sound vibe. You can also purchase a subwoofer so there is some real bass and atmosphere to the sound effects which make a good movie really come to life.
4. Popcorn
Popcorn has evolved. No longer is it a hit and miss affair in which your pan or microwave manages to zap many kernels but leave so many unpopped. You can now buy a professional popcorn maker at a reasonable price, ensuring that every kernel gets popped; it is also way healthier than using the pre-packaged, sodium saturated popcorn you tend to get in microwavable bags. To top this off, why not add some delicious popcorn seasoning which now comes in a wide range of flavors. Why be satisfied with just salt or sugar when you can have nacho cheese, caramel, ranch, and so many other exciting and healthy flavors.
5. Blankets and bean bags
You can actually seek to outdo your local movie theater by investing in some uber comfortable fleece blankets and a range of relaxing bean bag chairs. Why be restricted to the standard seating you get in your movie theater when you can go one better and really let you kids stretch themselves out.
6. Lights, camera, action
You don’t want your guests to be watching the movie in pitch black; they at least need to be able to see their snacks and soda. So ambient lamps might be the way forward or even strip lighting which is effectively an LED column lighting system that allows you just enough light to see your hands but does not detract from what is on the screen. Having a dimmer capacity is handy because you can then control just how light or dark you want the room to be. You can also factor in some sort of intermission, especially if you want to show two movies, back to back, or if you’re watching a longer film like ‘Lord of the Rings 3’.
7. Fridge that warms!
You can get mini-fridges, these days, that doesn’t just chill your sodas but warm your popcorn. Whatever you need, it can do. Why not have two of them, side by side, one for gently warmed popcorn or pizza, the other for chilling beverages. What is a movie, after all, without refreshments? And why have to go to the inconvenience of traipsing all the way to the kitchen when you can have everything you need at your fingertips. When you think how much money you’re saving by not actually visiting your local movie theater, it’s worth it.
8. Footstool
Ottoman furniture can serve equally as a pouffe or seat. You can have a range of them dotted around so that guests can lean on them, put their feet up on them, or even balance bowls of snacks or treats on them. In combination with sofas, beanbags, pillows, and blankets, this will surely be the icing on the cake.
The best at-home movie night is worth planning for so that it is as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. After all, the school work and office work is done, this is a great way to unwind and spend some quality time together as a family, or as a group of close friends.
