How To Keep Your Bedroom Tidy
Your bedroom should be your sanctuary; a place where you can sleep soundly and feel rested for the day ahead. Although this is true, we’re all guilty of letting standards slip and allowing mess and clutter to take over our haven of relaxation. By following these quick tips below on how to keep your bedroom tidy, you can stay on top of creating a space that is perfect for sleep and rest.
1. Always Put Your Clothes Away
Yes, we know. It takes a few hours to wash and dry your garments, but several days to actually fold and put them away. This means piles of clean clothes dotted around your bedroom, aching to be stored properly on hangers or in drawers.
Many of us are also guilty of ‘floor-drobes’, where dirty clothes are tossed aside with the intention of cleaning them up ‘tomorrow’. But when that doesn’t happen, they’re left on a pile on the floor, which mysteriously seems to double in size over the week. Invest in some quirky hangers to incentivize you to put your clean clothes away and buy a laundry basket, which matches the rest of your décor to ensure your dirty laundry isn’t always aired.
2. Make Your Bed Every Day
A well-made bed can change the whole feel of a room – simply throwing the duvet back on in a tidy fashion, as well as placing some homely cushions, can create an inviting space that you’ll be itching to get back into at the end of the day. Statistics show that individuals who make their bed every day are much more likely to be successful. Taking five minutes out of your day to fix your blankets and pillows will not only make your room look much tidier, but will also put your mind in a productive state, setting you up for the day.
3. Don’t Eat Or Drink In Your Bedroom
We know snacks are an important part of watching films and television, but try to keep these to a minimum when in your bedroom. Leaving plates, bowls, cups, and wrappers scattered on your bedside table or dresser is a sure-fire way to keep your room looking messy and unkempt. If you really can’t avoid eating or drinking in your bedroom, make sure you invest in a small bin with a lid, so you can instantly throw away wrappers and containers – and remove crockery as soon as you’ve used it.
4. Do A Mini Clean Up Each Day
We certainly don’t mean a deep clean, but by setting aside 10 – 15 minutes per day, whether that’s at the start or end of the day, can make a massive difference to how clean and tidy your bedroom is. Spend this time cleaning away rubbish, cups, bottles, and picking dirty laundry up. You could even set a timer to ensure you don’t spend too long on this task. If you have time, keep a can of polish and a duster nearby so you can do a quick spritz. Finish your quick clean with a spray of lavender, or your favorite scent, on any fabric, and sit back to enjoy your handiwork.
5. Organize Your Bedside Table
This is a quick and easy fix. If something is on your bedside table that shouldn’t be, put it back in its place or throw it away. You should limit your bedside table to a couple of books, glasses case, lamp, and not much else. This will stop you being distracted at night, allowing you to sleep better – as well as ensuring less clutter builds up.
