Unitasker Wednesday: Electric Mac and Cheese Maker

All Unitasker Wednesday posts are jokes — we don’t want you to buy these items, we want you to laugh at their ridiculousness. Enjoy!

CVS is a great place to pick up a prescription and a new toothbrush. It’s also where my husband’s college buddy found this week’s unitasker selection: the Electric Mac and Cheese Maker:

He’s convinced manufacturers are trolling consumers. I might have to agree with him. An entire electric appliance dedicated to making macaroni and cheese is bonkers. There is simply no other word for it — bonkers.

On the positive side, the device appears to be made by a company called Cheese Nation. As far as company names go, that one’s amazing. “Where do you work?” “Cheese Nation.” Brilliant.

What is it with Americans and their Mac’N’Cheese???!!? I mean: we have it here on this side of the pond but it’s one of a range of dishes, including pasta dishes, and not even one that comes first to my mind to prepare when I’m thinking about supper. It always seems to me to be elevated to the status of ambrosia to the gods in the States. 😉

Anyway, I guess that maybe with this contraption you might be able to make Cauliflower cheese (yum!) or even broccoli cheese maybe? Although I agree that all these electric doo-dads for each specific recipe are unitaskers: don’t people have/use ovens any more?

I used to make Mac & Cheese in my hot pot in college. Which is actually what this looks kind of like. Except my hot pot didn’t have a built in strainer (that would have actually been very helpful) or an integrated mixer (I’ll use a spoon, thanks).
