Workspace of the Week: Color coordinated

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Kimba714’s happy office:

Kimba714 used a little spray paint on the shelf brackets, colorful organizing supplies, pastel wall paint, and a handful of decorative items to create a bright and cheerful small home office. In this photograph, there doesn’t appear to be a computer (unless what I think is a desk blotter is actually a closed, thin laptop), however one could easily be set up between the two candlesticks. Switching out the knobs on the desk drawers was also a nice design touch. With an office this inviting, it would be easy to be productive when taking care of the business of the home. Thank you, Kimba714, for submitting your joyful workspace to our Flickr pool.

Want to have your own workspace featured in Workspace of the Week? Submit a picture to the Unclutterer flickr pool. Check it out because we have a nice little community brewing there. Also, don’t forget that workspaces aren’t just desks. If you’re a cook, it’s a kitchen; if you’re a carpenter, it’s your workbench.

I love the brackets and how the colors all coordinate but aren’t all matchy-matchy. Looks like a wonderful space to sit down and pay bills and such. Great job!

Oooh! I want one! It is wanty!

It’s also a lovely illustration of how “uncluttered” doesn’t necessarily mean “stark and sterile”.

Yay! Thanks for posting our space! 😀

The paint color on the wall is Bubbling Brook in eggshell from Behr. The brackets were a steal on ebay, and yes, the laptop fits perfectly on top of the blotter when needed. This is mainly my homework and letter writing desk, though, so the computer isn’t there often.

    Thanks again!

Maybe its because I’m from California, but the only thing that I can think of with this shelf is: Earthquake hazard. I could just imagine sitting there paying bills and getting konked on the head by the items on the shelves. That said, I think that it is a lovely workspace, and am very jealous that I can’t have one for my own 🙂 I will however keep an eye out for similar brackets, those look awesome!

I think I might have seen this desk before. Very nicely done, and it looks like the shelves were installed by pros.
Lorelai, I’m sure when there’s an earthquake you’re not going to keep sitting in the chair and wait for the items on the shelves to fall on your head.

Wow, so pretty! I really love the colour scheme and how it looks organized and clutter-free but not in that modern-minimal way that we see so much of.
