Workspace of the Week: Unconventional solutions

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Graywood Farm’s scrapbooking desk:

I was drawn to this office space for two reasons. For starters, it’s a standing desk, which is a rare submission for our photo group. Secondly, I love the use of unconventional containers for storage. It is a good reminder that you can be creative and think outside the box when putting together your organized space. Go with what speaks to you. Thank you, Graywood Farm, for giving us this valuable reminder!

Want to have your own workspace featured in Workspace of the Week? Submit a picture to the Unclutterer flickr pool. Check it out because we have a nice little community brewing there. Also, don’t forget that workspaces aren’t just desks. If you’re a cook, it’s a kitchen; if you’re a carpenter, it’s your workbench.

Very inspiring! I am new to scrapbooking and like the simplicity of the space. Where’s the paper stash?

I used to be an avid scrapbooker but got turned off by the hobby when it got to be more about outrageous scrap rooms & tons of supplies to stock them. This is actually a peaceful yet attractive setup that I could deal with. And I absolutely love that desk!!!

Very nice…much more inspiring storage than a file cabinet!

I’ve never been featured before – thanks! 🙂 My husband built the desk based on a discontined PB model.

Deb – the paper stash is in a wooden box similar to the 2 you see on the desk. It’s larger & sits on the floor nearby. The paper inside is filed vertically.

    Thanks for the kind words!

I love it. It reminds me of a drafting table but with an antique-y feel. Thumbs up!

I very much like the idea of a standing desk. Hemmingway used one to write. I would love to combine something like that with one of those nice desktop editor “desks” like they have a levenger to provide the inclined writing space.
