Workspace of the Week: The non-office office

This week’s Workspace of the Week is TheHappy1’s non-office office:

I like this office because it can fit into any living space of a home. The design elements might not be your style, but the concept can work for anyone. It has a few office items — stapler, pen cup, computer, paper shredder, filing basket — but otherwise it’s just a small table and a chair in a room. The wireless printer sits in another area behind a cabinet door, out of sight. If you’re someone who doesn’t have a whole room to devote to an office, this is a great, uncluttered alternative. Thank you, TheHapp1 for your submission!

Want to have your own workspace featured in Workspace of the Week? Submit a picture to the Unclutterer flickr pool. Check it out because we have a nice little community brewing there. Also, don’t forget that workspaces aren’t just desks. If you’re a cook, it’s a kitchen; if you’re a carpenter, it’s your workbench.

What a pretty space! I’d love to work there.

    Thanks for sharing.

This is beautiful! It proves that organization doesn’t always come as sleek minimalism.

Hm… not to be the grouch but I can’t imagine a person sitting down and doing hard work at length there. That chair looks like a back ache waiting to happen w/ no lumbar support and the tiny table looks like it would work if all you had to look at was your tiny laptop screen. For what it’s worth, the previous week’s spaces look like people actually do work at them.

This workspace looks so comfortable and inviting. I love that chair. I’m currently looking for something similar to use as a reading chair in my living room.

I just love staring at other people’s workspaces. I wish I could see which books were stacked on that little table!

I love it! Recently on a forum for internet marketing moms, we call drew a virtual picture of our workspace. For many of us with little ones around, our “office” is our laptops and a TV tray with a notebook or file folder handy.

I say work any way you want to, as long as the space helps you meet your goals it’s all good. 😉

This looks really nice but would not at all work for me. Where do I put all my stuff that I need at hand in order to do work? Filing cabinet, Books, Envelopes, stamps, stationery, printer, scanner? To me, this is not an office, this is a laptop sitting on a table. I’m currently sitting at my kitchen table with my laptop, but that does not make my kitchen my office.
