iHome iH70 speakers also act as iPod dock

If you are looking for new computer speakers you may want to check out the iHome iH70 speakers. They also act as a dock for your iPod and syncs to iTunes. From iHome:

The iH70 charges, plays and syncs your iPod with iTunes while it’s docked securely into the base of the computer speakers.

Comes complete with a computer port, sync switch, volume controls and a headphone jack for private listening.

With the dock built into these speakers you can remove the iPod dock (does anyone ever use the actual dock) or wire from your desk. Less wires and multifunctional products are always a plus.

These speakers aren’t available until July, but you can pre-order them through iHome’s site.

Built’s cargo laptop sleeve

Built makes some very handy storage products out of neoprene. I highlighted their alternative to a lunch box back in November. Their new Cargo Laptop Sleeve is made from the same material and also includes some very useful pockets to store computer accessories. From the Built website:

Our Cargo Laptop Sleeve streamlines the transport of your laptop and computer essentials. Composed of extra-thick neoprene, this sleeve stretches to fit your laptop and offers a substantial amount of protection. Three external slip pockets provide snug and convenient storage for various sized gadgets and accessories. The zigzag stitched seams improve water resistance and durability. The Cargo is available in three sizes.

It definitely looks less bulky than any laptop sleeve I’ve seen and with the extra pockets for storage it looks like it can keep all your laptop accessories in one compact device. Another great looking product from Built.

Are Macs more uncluttered than PCs?

There is a discussion board that accompanies our Unclutterer Workspaces flickr pool that I’ve been following since this summer. One of the conversations on the board is titled “Why so many Macs?” and covers the elephant in the room about most of the photographs in the group (ironically, not today’s Workspace of the Week).

From kellec:

“I love the pics so far but I can’t help but ask why are there so many mac systems? Since windows users vastly outnumber mac users, you’d think there’d be more windows. Unless, of course, windows folks are simply messier and less concerned about aesthetic than us mac users. ;)”

The conversation that follows is very interesting. Do Macs lend themselves to a more streamlined, aesthetic user? Is there something about a Mac that appeals to a person in search of an uncluttered space?

Please check out the discussion and feel welcome to add to it. I find this topic fascinating and would love to hear from more of our readers.

Save on Leopard for your Mac

We know that a good proportion of our daily readers are Mac users, so we thought that we would pass along the following savings advice. Amazon has cut the pre-order price of the Leopard operating system, scheduled for shipping on October 26, from $129 to $109 for single-users. Additionally, the pre-order rate comes with free shipping and a lowest price guarantee: “Order now and if the Amazon.com price decreases between your order time and release date, you’ll receive the lowest price.”

You can pre-order Leopard here.

Leopard looks to be a faster option than Tiger, and it comes with the clutter-alleviating program Spaces. Spaces allows users to group “application windows and banish clutter completely. Leopard gives you a space for everything and makes it easy to switch between your spaces.”

Pitter patter, Leopard. Pitter patter.
