It seems every person i've met or been in touch with says December is the busiest month for them. We are expected to do so much this month due to all the events associated with religious holidays.
I find June to be the busiest for us because there is so much more to do indoors and out and several events that *must* take place before folks go away on summer holidays.
november and december are both hugely busy for us: on the work front, the home front, and the social front.
january is often also manic unless i can squeeze valentine's day production into late december.
plus, january is still summer holidays here, so all of my retailers are busy.....which keeps us busy.
we are away for part of january 2012, but will be prepped up beforehand.
They are all busy. I realized this fall that I get through every month thinking "just as soon as Next Big Event is over, I will have more free time..."
December is the worst, when I'm working a job, because there are so many no school days and such ridiculous family demands that don't match up with available vacation time - my partner's family celebrates Christmas on the 24th, and we have to buy, wrap, bake, pack and travel to have everything achieved by noon on the 24th when the family holiday party is, but his vacation time starts on the 25th and goes to the 1st of January.
December is busy for me, but a lot of it is self-inflicted busy. I throw a Yule party on or around the shortest day of the year, and in the lead-up to the party I have this nasty tendency to try to finish one or more renovation projects to make the house look nicer.
The main party areas, the living room and dining room, are actually looking pretty good right now and will need almost nothing to make them presentable. I have some patching and painting to do in the hallway and kitchen, and I'm still hoping to have a functional toilet and sink on the main floor.
I'm just going to take this one thing at a time and see how far I get before it's time to start the cooking and final cleanuup.
Summer is actually hardest for me, because I have to work but the kids are out of school - and I work at a home office. It's utter chaos all summer, and I am trying to fit in all extra activities to keep us all from going stir crazy - it's so hot here in the South that being outside all day isn't an option even if we had a fenced yard and no snakes everywhere.
Everything is self-inflicted busy, for us. No kids, and no nearby family, so our "obligations" are few.
My busiest month the past couple of years has been September because of a dance showcase I've been directing. This December is crazed because of the Rose Parade. I try to keep one weekend a month completely clear of mutual commitments but little things keep creeping up on us and the last six weeks have been way too full.
Thanks to this thread, I am now going to get my 2012 calendar and find several weeks to block out for NOTHING!
Usually, December is my busiest month but because I had surgery Nov. 21st, I did all my shopping, wrapping and extra cleaning beforehand and I'm not having anyone for dinner or any parties so now I have a quiet, do only the minimal for Dec. It's nice!
My busiest months are to do with water polo - the 'interseason' breaks, where I'm chasing registrations, and then we also run a day for kids in the holidays, all at the same time. So I'm usually busy in April-May for Winter season, and busy in Sept/Oct for Summer season -and I ALWAYS forget that this won't be the down time (even though training stops, and so do games, there's a LOT more admin!)
Just writing it down, and putting it on a year planner, I might be better prepared - I always seem to be scrambling to get advertising ready in time!
