Angelo, I like the quote from 43Folders. I think it's true. If we were to choose the absolutely most important thing in our lives - our biggest priority - and then choose just one other thing as our other biggest priority, what would we choose?
A lot of us have a more or less lengthy list of things we want to be involved in, and people we want to be involved with. All of these things and people complicate our lives. But if we take that old "if you knew you had one day to live" self-help chestnut and really seriously ask ourselves how we would spend that day, and with whom, the answer gives us our true priorities.
For daily life, my priorities are 1) my own health 2) my relationship with DH. Yes, I love my home, my cats, my parents, my sisters, my friends, my activities, my possessions (well, most of them). But do those things truly direct my daily thoughts and actions? No.
Knowing this about myself helps a lot in keeping things simple.
