Got bug as soon as I got the book this weekend. So far DH and I have been through both of our clothes (yield: 2 big black garbage bags from me. 1 big black garbage bag of clothes from him and 1 big black garbage bag of shoes from him.) Then we moved on to the kitchen pantry (yield: two kitchen garbage bags of expired food; half opened packages we have no intention of ever finishing and other stuff that we bought, tried, and never want to eat again.) We also cleared out our spice shelf. We had duplicates, old, and almost completely empty jars. From there we moved to the canned goods. It was a good thing we did. We found a couple of cans of pumpkin that had leaked through the side of the can and created some nasty black mold in the cabinet. I threw all of the canned pumpkin out. (We feed canned pumpkin to our dogs to supplement their diets. They love it!) We got rid of way too many canned goods and discovered that we dont need to purchase any more canned goods for a while.
Today, we tackled the computer room. This is the one place that made me insane. DH (Happy Birthday!) had a 2x2 foot pile of computer parts, software, cables, etc. sitting next to his desk. That pile has been minimized and contained in two boxes with lids. We shredded a large black garbage bag full of stuff too. And we donated two bags of books, a portable photo printer, a GameBoy with all of the accessories and games, a keyboard, and art supplies. We threw out the large bag of shred and another large black bag of trash. There is finally room for our dogs to lay in the room with us!
Next up (while the momentum is hot) is converting the entry closet into a Reception Station, complete with room for coats, hats, and handbags!
