I did a good bit of cleaning this weekend.
Out: 8 year old computer, books I will never read again, magazines, magazine holders, stuffed animals that have been in a rubbermaid tub for almost 2 years and I no longer want (forgot about half of them, so obviously don't need them), CDs (I digitized my collection), electronics cables I no longer need and have no idea why I saved them in the first place, misc computer components.
This was 4 good sized boxes of stuff. I took it all to my parents' house, because my mom has garage sales and gives me some of the proceeds when she sells my stuff.
In: New dog collar for my dog. She needed it.
Pending/ToDo: old dog collar (will donate it to the rescue group where I adopted my dog), printer that no longer works, more books I will never read, clothes (need to go through my closet again and throw out what I no longer like, or doesn't fit me)
It feels SO good to declutter!!

oh i like this topic
out today: a tool box full of random tools i didn't need b/c my boyfriend already had them and there was no reason to keep two, also the toolbox as well, it was taking up to much space and i didn't need it for the few tools i kept. gave it way on freecycle
a pair of slippers waiting to be picked up by someone on free cycle.
also have two books to mails out that i gave away using bookmooch.
one more box of random stuff i am mailing to a friend, stuff like note books, folders, a expanding file, my whole sticker collection(she also collects) and some other stuff i know she will like. i have one more box i am working on for another friend but i don't know if i will get it out this week.
i also gave away two really dressy shirts and a really nice dress on freecycle that i don't think i would ever wear again. usually the stuff i give away is pretty good and people pick up same day which is nice.
in: so far only two black tank tops that were on sale, b/c i needed a couple undershirts for some shirts that are a little low cut and i don't always want to flash cleavage. i also got an extra 10% off b/c i work at the store i bought them from. i actually really happy about buying them b/c i waited probably several months for these tank tops to go on sale.

I finally found a house nearer to work that I want to rent, so pending application forms and references I have a job this weekend - I have far too many boxes of books that haven't been unpacked due to lack of room as I knew this place was temporary, so I need to go through them again and cull my poor collection. I alwats think I need all the books but there is always one or two that could go.
So, pending: Books to the charity shop

i am on a roll.
tonight i went through the sentimental paper clutter box.
letters...cards....photos....ephemera.
i threw out 80% of it. it was hard, but it really was clutter.
the 20% i kept is all full of lovely memories and i have stashed it all into a really nice balinese temple box (it has been living in a huge dusty torn stained archive box on top of the bookcase, glowering down at me for years).
as soon as the lid was on, i thought gee, wouldn't it be great of you culd send all the photos away to be scanned?
and guess what? YOU CAN. :)
so that is my project in april. *happy as a clam*Posted 1 month ago # -

The only thing brought in has been food.

Ok, I actually took more than I realized out today!
OUT: non-working drill to recycle; donated a large, framed print I bought in 1986; cat box toy; ironing board with cover; electric hand mixer from the 70s or 80s; wood settee.
IN: Nothing!
RETURNING: a large box of cigar magazines I was going to sell for a friend. I determined they have no sales value and will drop them off to her tomorrow. She has decided to donate them to a local cigar store in her neighborhood. They are in my car and ready to go!
Since December 16th, I've now eliminated 263 items from my home! And I still have more! Unbeliveable!

I forgot to mention that since I have not figured out how to post photos on this site, I have some and will be adding more to my personal blog at http://drawerbydrawer.wordpress.com/. I love seeing the visual results as well as remembering what I no longer own!
What's amazing to me is that I continue to find things to donate!
