I am rather proud of this item
I was using this old truck as a coffee table.

But i have taken up activities that need 'stuff' and wanted a place to store things.

I took a fabric and net shoe organizer and cut it to fit inside the lid of the trunk as well as around the sides.

The original intention was to store my life vest and things from rowing as well as my helmet shoes from cycling, but the compact tent is taking up too much room. I may just pull that back out and hang it in the closet where it was originally.

the pockets hold various cameras and camera equipment as well as compasses, light meters, knives, and other adventuring items.

toybox overflow.
the tent, the spare flotation vest and a few other rarely used items didn't have a home.
so now i have another 'toybox' one of those large plastic trunks in the basement.
i found that nylon drawstring laundry bags are awesome for storing the flotation vests and other uncompactable items, like the inflatable emergency raft...the raft and the oars which disassemble all fit into the laundry bag and it all went inside nicely..you have no idea how 'organized' that made me feel.

Yes, very nice storage. And even though we have an outbuilding that stores all of outdoor gear, I'm stealing the laundry bag idea for keeping the PFD's so they don't get dirty over the 3 seasons we don't use them. :) Hmmm, I could also store all the wet bags in one. We already have some large weird plastic material bags that hold our hip boots and rain gear.

OMG, I want that trunk! I adore old steamer trunks but they don't exist down here, the humidity rots them. :( I'm loving how you utilized the OTD organizer. Pure genius!

@bandicoot - brilliant! I hate having all those chargers and cables and am constantly looking for a way to store them. When I'm in charge of the world, there will be universal chargers/cables for all electronic devices! :)
