I've had two areas of dramatic improvement.
First, the closet. After much reflection, I realized it was my body that was the problem, not the clothing, and all the clothes in the world would not make me look better. Since January I've lost 53 lbs. and the closet has been purged of everything that doesn't fit or flatter. It looks great -- and so do I. It's still a work in progress -- both the closet and my waistline -- but it has been very liberating.
Second, the garage. Our shop area was a mess. If we needed a tool or a supply it was easier to buy a new one than to find it in the piles. Now it's a model of organization. If we need something, whether its a penny nail or a $300 circular saw, I know exactly where it is. It's well labeled so DH can find things too. And it's clear where things belong, so they get put away after use. If we could just get rid of that @!*& stack of lumber we could park both cars in the garage.
Everything is better. We've had a couple of out-of-town friends visit and it took me a couple of hours to get the house ready for overnight guests instead of a couple of days. We've invited friends and neighbors over on the spur of the moment knowing that the house looked respectable. Lingering projects are getting done -- not as quickly as i would like, but progress is being made. It's all good.
