There was a thread on this site that mentioned hating minimalist blogs. As an aspiring minimalist, I was taken aback. Then I read the following minimalist blog today and am now able to understand where the original poster was coming from:
Particularly, I found this quote to be disturbing:
"I’m not interested in communicating with people (on the Internet) who do not know how to use Twitter. We speak different languages at this point because of the exponential techno/evolutionary gap.
If you’re receiving emails that are seven paragraphs long, you’re interacting with non-twitter users speaking old english. These people are not fluent in the advanced mental cybernetic languages described in Augmented Humanity and developing now/in the future. It is in their best interest to adopt Twitter now, or be left behind as humanity jumps ahead exponentially."
I honestly mean no offense to anyone who enjoys reading Everett's blog. I did, occasionally, read it and enjoy it up until this last post which came across as extremely pretentious. Am I missing something? Is there sarcasm hidden in those two paragraphs that I am just unable to grasp?
