Oh, sleepykitten - I have the same problem. I love to cook, and I also loooove to buy new things to try out. The problem is that I quite often don't get around to using all the stuff I buy in time, and so it goes bad. Resolution for the new year: meal planning, and if I buy things to try out I have to really try them out within the week. Meal planning ftw.

Fed the last of the Christmas tenderloin to the grandchildren for lunch. Kids that young should not be so fond of good beef. This may have been a mistake on my part.

candy - it's good to know that I am not alone in my struggles to use up food! I agree, meal planning is the key. Another goal to work on in 2012. :)

Blackcurrant and white chocolate muffins, eventually I will use up some of the masses of baking ingredients in the larder. And the eggs were pretty close to their use by date, so I put 2 in instead of 1 and ended up with extra tasty muffins which the kids liked, albeit the tops were a tad crunchy. Also did a root veggie pilaf thingy with a bit of quinoa and a tin of vegetable curry which needed using up. Next up will be soaking some pulses and then looking for recipes for them.
