Libman, in the US, sells products similar to Swiffer, only they are more heavy duty and come with the washable microfiber pads to begin with. They are also the folks who have the mop with the twistable microfiber head.

Plus you don't need batteries for the Libman mop. The Swiffer Wet Jet runs on batteries.

I don't mop or sweep, but due to kitty we vacuum twice weekly. I can't deal with more than that because DH is difficult to push into motion already for these two tasks (he's on vacuuming, dusting and bathroom duty; I make the bed, wash dishes and textiles plus clean the kitchen weekly). I'd love to have an even cleaner house though but it will never happen.
If I did do a swiffer maneuvre, though, I'd use a microfiber cloth. I don't believe in disposable cleaning gear in any area of the home (except for liquids/powders and such of course).

After reading all this, I pulled out my Libman mop. It is easier to use than my steam mop and the head comes off and goes in the washing machine. I used a tiny bit of Pine Sol in my mop water and my hardwood floors feel so clean. I like the steam mop but it is hard to push through the whole house.
