Gah!
Landlords came round today to check the place was ok after 6 month of living here.
Landlady was happy but noted how much stuff we had - and said she pitied us when we had to move.
Grrr. I have got rid of tons. EVERYTHING has a place except two chairs I loved from my grandfather's house - and we used those as we had a 2 1/2 month wait for sofas.
Landlord said that they had 14 built in wardrobes, so I felt better after that, lol.

Lucy - that was pretty much what I said. maybe its the local area - our place has 6 units built in. Never seen anything like it elsewhere in the UK!
i wouldn't be taking uncluttering advice or opinions from anyone with 14 built-in wardrobes!
holy crap 14!, i have ALL of my clothes in one closet, I agree with bandicoot.
badkitti: maybe your landlord is jealous of your belongings? Imho, 14 wardrobes sound like a lot. Is she using them just for clothes???
I have no idea what she uses them for - maybe its because we have more stuff on display - one entire wall of the living room is bookshelves - they came with the house built in.
LOL that's hilarious! 14 built-in wardrobes! Wow. Finally I've heard of someone with as much storage as I have. 1 closet in BR 1, 3 closets in BR 2, linen closet, coat closet, pantry, and tons of kitchen cupboards. Oh and let us not forget the big vanity in BA 1 and big *double* vanity in BA 2. And with all that, still a shocking number of chests, bookcases, etc. My goodness.
14 built-in closets, wow. It sounds pretty smug of her to say that, implying that she'd have an easier time moving... Maybe it was just the kind of stuff you own -- books are heavier than, say, clothes :o)
