Mskris, that's fantastic!

Lottiliot, you had your interview Thursday, right? How did it go?

I had a few nice things today--great dinner with DH, bought yellow tulips despite the snow on the ground, and went to a really great birthday party tonight in a club. I met old friends, made some new ones, danced up a storm and now am on my phone listening to DH and the cat snoring in tandem--naturally she's hogging my side of the bed. Animals in the bed. My mother would roll over in her grave if she knew...
I had such a fun time, lovely happy people on a bleak February day.
The evening ended with someone I respect telling me in detail how he admired my DH and looked up to him as a role model. This always touches me when I hear it because, hey, I chose the guy and I love it when other people love him too.

This thread has such a positive vibe.

It was lovely to spend time on our land yesterday, planning and dreaming about our future. We staked out the location for our chicken coop and our vegetable beds. Today is for relaxing at the beach and a refreshing swim.

Djk: the interview is next Thursday, I have a practice interview with my supervisor tomorrow and need to spend today refining my ideas and doing more literature searching. I want to try hard not to let this interview hang over me and spoil my kids' half term holiday. Your evening sounds lovely, by the way.
JTT: that sounds wonderful!
My nice thing today: I woke up early after an early night and am going off for a lovely run to try out my new trail shoes.

mskris, woooot!

my bathtub arrived and it is marvellous.
it is a tub for two and completely portable.
so, i have started taking baths already.....well in advance of the arrival of the builder!
i took a bath with the husband, out on the verandah, looking out at the stars, listening to vivaldi, and drinking an organic pear cider.
i don't think i have ever felt happier.

Glorious bathing experience bandicoot. Will the bath be fixed in place eventually or will you be able to pop it outside when you get the urge?

Omg, love it!! Pmsl at mental image of bandicoot lugging bathtub around her property in search of today's perfect spot! How do you fill it, though?
I had a magnificent 8 mile run out in the frost and snow, really beautiful countryside, kind of the polar opposite of bandicoot's photo in terms of weather!

netleigh, it is deisgned to go with a special floor drain.....so it can remain unfixed and completely portable forever.
great for cleaning the floor and for moving it outside when open air baths seem essential.
we filled it with a few buckets of boiling hot water and the cold water hose.
it is solar-heated rainwater.

lottie, some crisp frosty weather sounds more appealing than you might imagine.
it is sweltering on the coast, and we've been having lovely blue sky mornings turning to oppressive thundery soup in mid-afternoon.
some english countryside sounds dreamy right now!

Bandicoot, as you live in glorious surroundings that is such a fun bath option, not so good where I live, I think the neighbours would be very amused, though not surprised, if we took a bath in the garden.
I experienced some lovely unfixed bathtubs in Norway where the bathroom is a tanked wetroom with drains and the bath and shower just drain into the floor.

There is a pristine beauty about the tub itself--the sheen, the shape--let alone the wonders of its function. Great acquisition, Bandicoot, and enhanced by the setting. Just the kind of mindful purchase that makes life more enjoyable at a pure and basic level. Enjoy!

Oh my goodness. I suppose raging jealousy is not a good thing. I Love that tub and the whole idea of a portable one. OK, I'm happy for you now.

wow, Bandicoot! That looks so eccentric, meant in the nicest possible way! Love it!
Couldn't imagine being able to do that in England, either too cold, or nosy neighbours or if you could install it in a secluded field, too many curious cows!!

Do you add anything to the bath water? Or just go with a bar of your extravagantly gorgeous soap?

Here in the land of concrete, my nice day began by waking to the beautiful sight of yellow roses glowing in the morning light. Then, playing fast and loose with gluten and dairy, I breakfasted on blueberry buttermilk pancakes topped with sauteed peaches, toasted almonds, and maple syrup. It's so nice to just reach up and pluck the pans I need instead of rummaging around down in a dark cupboard.

bandicoot, oh, that is gorgeous. I have never heard of a portable bathtub (other than the zinc once-a-week kitchen doohickeys from prairie-livin' in the 1890s)

forgot to add:
my nice thing today was (again) coffee and magazines in bed, followed by a light lunch of another chicken broth (am pretty sure that roasting the bones first improves it), followed by bundling up and going to the Albertina for the impressionists exhibit. The colours! the light! the grace! sigh.

I once drew a telephone in a game of Pictionary and my partner shouted out "Santa!"
it is such a joy to soak up others' talent when I have none in that area.

then DH made an amazing dinner, and we are winding down our weekend and looking forward to a productive week.

Bought some lovely red tulips, most are in a vase in the kitchen, but I put two in a tiny glass on the desk in my office, so I can see them while working on the computer.

I'm glad you finally got your flowers, Jennifer. When you wrote about it yesterday, you inspired me to buy myself flowers too. I swept up to the checkout cashier and handed my roses to him with a flourish and said, laughing: "These are for you!" He laughed back and said: "Will you be my Valentine?" and gave me a chocolate heart!

bandicoot- the tub and the setting are beautiful! I think there will be a lot of baths in the future. Can I ask, what type of tree is it under? It is quite pretty and unusual (to me).

An cool app my dd just turned me onto- Fooducate-
You scan a barcode of a food, it gives you nutritional value, facts, etc.
I think it even gave WW points also.
Sooooo cool.
