I decided to not only scan or photograph sentimental scraps/items of various kind, but actually collect them in a photo book in iPhoto. I have made one of those before and it was such a pleasant experience that I want to do it again, only this time to make a scrapbook that I can flick through much easier than miscellaneous papers scattered everywhere.
Other things that I am still undecided about are letters, postcards and diaries as well as miscellaneous memorabilia.
ninakk, are you just keeping scanned 'stuff' together or including photos and stories in the scrapbook?
I scrapbook photos and have moved from making lots of pages with pretty photos to a more 'compact' approach where I scan a few things like tickets from a trip and make just a page or two to capture the highlights but with more words about what it meant to me. I had started to keep far too many bits of paper from events but scanning and throwing them in the recycling has reduced the clutter potential.
This sounds good, ninakk. This is an area that greatly concerns me, so I am going to be watching to see how it goes for you. I hope you will show us some photos! :)
Netleigh, I was thinking of dividing the book into sections and so far I've come up with three (haven't give it that much thought yet, but I'm sure there will pop up more ideas still):
- a chronological documentation of events in the lives of family and friends (graduations, weddings, etc.) that I attended and received some form of stationery for (will be scanned and I'll add a comment in the already existing fields)
- a chronological documentation of school projects (for some reason I chose projects throughout all the years that still interest me and so it is the perfect place to collect all those details)
- maybe a page or two per hobby that has been part of my life once or still is

Yeah, I am an Apple fangirl and all that jazz, but they seriously have some good stuff going on amidst all the weirdo iCloud thing going on. iPhoto can handle even my A4 pages of scanned material as long as the resolution is high enough (note to self: check the requirements before starting to scan anything). And you can choose pages according to need plus the layout of "Contemporary" suits my visual preferences perfectly. I thought of going cheap and selecting the soft-cover book, but decided it's worth the hardcover. Sentimental miscellanea, here I come!
I am also an Apple fan. :)
I need to explore more of what iPhoto can do!
Hey, I just noticed that you can save a book as pdf too if you don't want to have it printed. Could work well if there are plenty of projects to save and you want to keep things in bytes!
