My brother described my house once as being a 15-piece sliding puzzle--like the one on this site: http://catalog.umd.edu/search=basic There's so much stuff in every corner that I only manage to keep one room clean at a time. A lot of this is inherited clutter that I have to sort through and deal with. I've made a lot of progress doing a little at a time, but this week I decided to use the 15-piece puzzle as a focus of my cleaning. I decided that I wanted to clear one space to move things into while I'm sorting it. What room could I use for that? I listed all the rooms available, and chose the back porch. A couple of days ago, I completely cleaned the back porch for the first time in years. Then I focused on another room, boxed up stuff in that room, and moved it to the back porch.
I think that this method will actually work for me. If I can get all the clutter corraled into one area, then I can slowly work my way through it. Part of the solution to any problem is creating a viable plan. I hope this one will work.
