OH MY. That's exactly what I needed to get out of my blue mood after the tsunami. Yes, that's apparently how shallow I am. Laughing at others instead of with them, shame on me. OH MY.

That is the best. Thanks for the laugh.

Snort! I must go out and buy more underwear so I can become a minimalist. And a purple t-shirt.

too funny!!

ROTFLMAO - which has plenty of space to roll on, since the minimalist got rid of all his furniture!

I love how, when confronted with a question he can't answer, the wannabe minimalist just continues with his list as if not interrupted!

I love this! I live in Silicon Valley (aiiiee) so the Apple products part was especially apt :)

LOL! I also loved how he keeps continuing his list when he can't answer, hee hee :o) Finally someone who makes fun of "underwear counts as one piece" and "cables don't count", that's something I have always found hilarious - I'm going to limit myself to 100 things but I make the rules about what is actually counted *rolls eyes* ;o)

Finally got time to watch it, work computers block youtube!
If underwear counts as one thing, then all outerwear could count as one thing too.
Love it.Posted 1 year ago # -
Have passed this on to several people, including my brother-in-law who thinks Apple is EVIL. Hilarious, thanks!

LOL! I will have to admit that I am an Apple fan. :)
Trillie, where are you?

South Park also has an episode about minimalism. I discovered it the other day but have not watched the entire program.
The people of South Park have given up material possessions and are wearing only wrapped garments. It is sure to be an enlightening poke at people who follow this world view.
We really do need to have a laugh once in a while. Sometimes humor can make such a statement.
In the few minutes that I saw of it, I was surprised at how much I identified with it!So, do we go over the edge a bit, some of us, maybe? Probably.
Still, I would rather lead an uncluttered life. It allows me to also lead an examined life.Posted 10 months ago # -
"It sounds like a cult."
"Not really. Everyone should become a minimalist, quit their job, and write a blog."
Hahahahaha!

Does anyone else find this degrading? Like minimalism isn't a serious option because a few extremists have ruined the term for those of us on a serious mission to declutter our lives and souls, live a life of voluntary simplicity, reduce consumption, and find meaning? I do appreciate the humor, but I'm sick of ALL minimalists being placed in the same category when there is a HUGE continuum of practitioners and even co-existing definitions and descriptors because of the negative connotations associated with "minimalist" - so aptly described in this video.

smallLife, there are minimalists and minimalists; the latter are full of themselves, count all theirs socks as one unit, don't count their toothpaste as an existing item at all (funny because they do take up space in our bathroom and don't show invisible on the receipt when paying for the purchases), have decided that 100 things is some kind of magical limit. Many refuse to acknowledge that someone else has to provide for and maintain their sleeping, cooking and other arrangements, as well, since their chosen lifestyle is the backpacker's, usually that of a single person on top of it all. Few can reach those "standards" and at least I don't mind the least if people try and take them down from their "higher" level a bit. It is this trendy minimalism that rubs me the wrong way, not the normal kind, and currently the trendy ones shout rather loud all over the internet.
