The topic of luggage storage came up in this thread: http://unclutterer.com/discuss/topic/second-question-under-the-bed
SunshineR suggested it might be a good topic for a new post.
So. Where does everyone store their luggage? Any best practices or innovative solutions you'd like to share? Words of wisdom or caution with respect to luggage storage? How much or how little luggage does one really need? Has anyone forgone luggage altogether?
I don't travel as much as I'd like to, and when I do I try to pack light. I have a medium suitcase and an overnight/weekend bag, which covered pretty much all my packing needs to date. When I lived alone I stored the smaller bag in the larger and they lived in the least accessible corner of my closet. The boyfriend has 2 suitcases (one inconveniently small, one quite large) and an assortment of duffel bags, and he used to adopt the same storage method. Then we moved in together and between oddly-shaped closets, an abundance of things needing the storage space, and inadequate space under the bed (too low to the ground), there was no room in our apartment to store luggage. Thankfully the apartment came with a storage cubby in the basement, which serves not only to store our luggage, but also to keep it out of reach of the cats, who seem to think suitcases make excellent scratching posts.
