So, I decided trying to throw/donate/give away one object every day, for... well a month at least, maybe for a year. I know I´ve got enough stuff to keep up this project for a year !
Anyway, I realise I have the need to document this somehow, to show off...
Do you guy do this too ? I remember someoen putting it the ineth Google Calendars, but I feel like it would just clutter it up... I don´t want to Tweet it, it would clutter up my subscribers...
I was wondering where I could create a group or something... where we could report every day what we got rid of... and motivate each other. And feel accountable.

I don´t know if this makes sense, it´s just an idea. What do you think ?

Hi eternalvoyageur,
I do this and I have a blog http://www.365lessthings.com that I post on everyday with the latest item I have surrendered and some "words of wisdom", come over and have a look. I do also put each item on my google calendar it is easier to keep track of things there than to have to scroll through my posts should I for some reason want to know what went on what day.
I am trying to put a slide show in my blog but I have a very simple (keeping in the theme if things) blog design which doesn't allow me to do that. I am not that computer savvy and I am not game to mess with it in case I accidently delete everything.
I like your idea to create a group so we could keep track of and motivate each other. I would be glad to add an area in my blog where we could do that. Maybe it could be a weekly event where we list all the things that we go rid of in the last week.
Just a thought. Let me know what you think.

I, too, am blogging about my quest to eliminate 50% of my belongings this year. My blog can be read at: http://drawerbydrawer.wordpress.com/ So far, I've eliminated over 500 items and I've lost count, decided it was too much detail for me. 365less things, I love your blog and format! I spent some time reading your entries as well as left a comment. I know how much I enjoy receiving comments as they validate what I am doing.

enternalvoyageur, this is a great idea...I go on binges where I may eliminate 10 items and then take a break for a few days...but I will participate if you'd like to begin a forum. There have been some similar ones that I know had great responses. This weekend I am in a frenzy to eliminate as much as possible as I have a Feng Shui consultation scheduled for next weekend and want to have my home as uncluttered as possible!

I think this a good idea, it might motivate other people if they read it and are wanting to get rid of more but don't know where to start.

Any idea in what format should I make it ? I´d like it to be simple, so that it won´t take more time to "report" the throwing out of an object, than it did to actually throw it out.
Actually, maybe Erin or someone on the Unclutterer could make something like this on here...

If all else fails, you could start a post on this forum, or in a different section of this forum "What I got rid of today..."
I have gotten rid of so much stuff in the last 3 years or so, partially due to a move and otherwise due to the fact that I hate having so much unused stuff around. I couldn't begin to put a number on how much went, easily close to 1000 items, if not more. Most of the "stuff" I gave away was "stuff" my Mom gave me. She will never understand....

if you guys are on twitter (or not adverse to joining, at least), you can start a topic there. just use a pound sign and a short tag (example: #thingaday) to track the conversation.

another vote for a forum thread.
i'm with paperdog....twitter was one of the very first things i decluttered!

one item a day might be a stretch for me right now.
i have done the bulk of my decluttering.....if i start tossing any more stuff out, i'll be down to a very monk-like existence.
and the next decluttering project....the hideous workshop....will progress in large screaming purges, rather than a civilised one-item-per-day.
however with a forum thread
i can join in when i DO find a single item
and
i love reading about what other people are finding they can live without :)
i check in here most days too.

And here's the first report! Yesterday, my 11 year old goddaughter came over to "work" for me. She is getting her ears pierced this summer so I gave her the last three pairs of stud earrings I own plus a small jewelry carry all case where she can store them, a well as a freshwater pearl bracelet (no longer my style) and she was thrilled! So was I! Five more items out the door! This is the second time I've given earrings to young girls who are beginning middle school and they are so excited! So are their parents, less earrings to buy!

I LOVE to do this...it's like my own personal meditation everyday! I keep a box in the basement and every day I put something in it...when it's full, I tape it up and take it to the local Free Store (a store that helps disadvantaged families with household items. :) It's a win-win situation! Today's item is a GIANT velour blanket (never used.)
