More on cane toads - there are a few native toad and frog species that look superficially like the cane toad and are in danger of being treated as such, especially at night.
We've just moved back to the Brisbane area after three years in Mackay; I'd forgotten how big they grow down here - for some reason they do really well (as in really large) in the Brisbane area. In Mackay I generally had smaller ones living in the water well section of my pot plants!
I repotted all those plants and kept them indoors for the few weeks leading up to the move to avoid toads hopping around in the removal van. :-) Then my father-in-law took the plants to his place (we were following our stuff a week later) to ensure they survived, only he is in a RIFA (red imported fire ant) declared area and we aren't so he has to drench the plants in a special solution and then bring them to our place within 48 hours of the drench. We're expecting him to bring them around on Wednesday.
As for ironing - iron things straight out of the washing machine, then hang them on hangers to dry - saves letting them dry only to dampen them down to get rid of the tough creases.
