I played it like a game. I wouldn't spend any money, AND, I would see what happened when I had accumulated 9,999,999 coins and then got just one more. Would I crash the database?
Got to 9,999,999 last night, got one more ... and nothing happened. So I sold my bees, cat, and chinchilla (saying goodbye to the virtual beasts), harvested the last crops, and deleted the app.
More time to do important things, like watching Torchwood :)
I loved that game and became addicted. I'd worry if my crops weren't harvested. It lasted about two weeks and I had to call it quits. It felt good to be rid of it, as fun as it was while it lasted!
Yup, I played it too much, then spent 2 weeks on vacation without access and never went back! Now I stick to things like Scrabble which doesn't consume my time.
Same here. I loved that game so much that I would mentally be rearranging trees and houses as I was driving down the highway. After a Facebook virus screwed up myy laptop, I deleted it and took music lessons for the first time in my life instead!

I never played Farmville, but I had to block Cityville, Treasure Isle and Frontierville. Such a timesuck. I do still play Cafe World but it is less demanding.

Ugh. I hate those facebook games that are "timed" (like the harvesting of crops), or require you to constantly badger your friends for help. I decluttered all of them, and limit myself to one game at a time. I pick a game that doesn't require me to check it all the time or go through cumbersome amounts of gifts from friends, and play it until I'm bored with it. Then I delete it from my apps.
I also block all games from posting to my status, even the one I am playing at the time. I don't want to wade through pages and pages of "Carol just added a widget to her village" updates to get to the real stuff.

When I read how Farmville works to get you hooked in very simple Psych 101 terms, I was instantly cured! I did start playing again for a few weeks over the summer holidays but then stopped cold again. It's a time sink for sure! I might play again one day, it's a harmless enough diversion, I'd listen to podcasts while I played but doesn't work for me when I have real things to do on a deadline and I have to rush to harvest some crops first LOL
