I'm hoping one day, my screen name will be a lie.
My family is having a yardsale this weekend. And I haven't been able to go through everything. I'm hoping I can keep things under control, until we have another yardsale. My aunt has one of those storage units. And i'm thinking of asking if I can put stuff there for next years yardsale. One reason I want to declutter; I don't want to have to pay extra money a month to store stuff I spent money on.
What I have gotten done so far for this yardsale is:
I can now step into my closet. Sure there's still a whole side of stuff and it's not organized in anyway. But I can walk into the closet! I used to just have to open the door and stretch to reach my clothing. I also got rid of clothes that I never wore or think, "When I lose weight, I will." I got to thinking. "Yeah, i'm going to lose weight, but will I still want to wear it, then?" I did organize my clothes. Pants and Skirts on one side. And then shirts are divided into two sections 1. Shirts with sayings or pictures and 2. Shirts I can wear to work. So now it's easy to see if I need to do laundry.
I had several stuffed animals on a shelf, some I have had for over 10 years. Getting rid of them all. I mean, all they did was gather dust. I'm sure they want to go feel loved once more. However I do feel sort of guilty for wanting to get rid of them. Like this huge pink bunny(that stayed in my closet)...I never cuddled it or anything. But one of my aunts got it for me, and I hope they don't get upset of me getting rid of it. But like I said I never really gave it a thought. The only time I thought of it was when i'd randomly run across it. But clearing off that shelf has made my room feel more open.
I'm getting rid of my comics. Because I could never keep up and get the next in the series. Had like 20 of ones in a series and just had the first one. And didn't feel like i'd want to read them again.
Getting rid of several records and cassette tapes.
Now my bookshelf, keeping ones I love. But I had so many I bought at yardsales or Goodwill, with the intention of reading. So I went to my cities library's website and looked em up. If they had them, they go into the yardsale. And I have the list. So if I ever get the urge to read them I can get them from the library.
Now my CD's there were a few I knew when I picked them up they went into the yardsale. What i'm going to do with the rest is listen to them all the way through and then decide if they are worth keeping or not.
So hopefully one day I will have everything all decluttered, organized, and neat.
Edit: I took the stuff down to my mom's. And when it got to the pink bunny. I had second thoughts. And then it hit me, I sat it up and buckled it in. It now sits in the back seat on the passenger side. The side where the door doesn't work. So now when someone goes to get in the back, they'll know to go to the other side.
