Small world! UW was my first choice originally but it's just too far from home (Ohio). I'm really glad to hear a perspective from someone in the biz. I get the sense that LIS is different from other grad programs because, at least at the Master's level, it's not a strictly "academic" degree with research, conferences to attend, undergrads to teach, etc.
I'm thinking my priority for the time being is going to be tracking down some decent cardigans, jeans and tees that fit well and won't fall apart--same basic premise as my current wardrobe just higher quality for a little more polish. Maybe I'll make a resolution to only wear sweats and gym shoes in public on the weekends.
