It really is, isn't it? I like her point of view. If it doesn't make you feel good to wear something, why even have it? If something doesn't fit or look right, why keep it? Why not let our clothes do half the work for us? why stack the deck against looking decent by keeping frumpy, schlumpy, ragged, worn-out clothes?
I am happy to say I own zero pairs of jeans and zero sweatpants or sweatshirts. The first I don't find comfortable, and the second I find too sloppy. Just because I'm curled up on the couch with my cats doesn't mean I want to look like I just fell out of the dryer in the basement.
It's so much easier to put together an outfit when everything in the closet fits, is in good shape, and coordinates with at least two other things.

rofl...... well I just skimmed down to the 'shoes' bit and laughed my @ss off at all the plurals and 'seasons'. I guess it doesn't snow here so I have less seasonal clothing than most.
I have one pair of hiking boots which I wear year-round except for the hottest days of summer. I have one pair of knee-high fashion boots, and one pair of summer sandals. I have a pair of black dress shoes, and two pairs of bone-and-black, and one pair of gold/champagne strappy sandals, and one pair of runners. I think DH has more shoes than me, with all his climbing and sports boots.
I do like shoes. Lots. Guess I'd rather pay off the mortgage though.
