MacJournal for the Mac
Curious, what about writing a journal that warrants a separate program other than a word processor?
A journal program is far superior that a word processor program (in my humble opinion). I have used "Daily Journal" for years and have 3900 plus pages filled. The problem is, is that it is not supported by 64 bit OSs. The company went out of business a long time ago.
I need one for Windows. I just like my particular program. I wish a knew a geek/code writer who could make it 64 bit compatible. I assume that would be a huge undertaking.
Thanks

I'm referring to two previous posts where I've replied. I think MacJournal does about the same as Journler, but the latter is freeware. You still don't mention your OS, so it's difficult to suggest anything, Lemarsman.

FSA, Journler does GTD too, incorporates music, photos, videos, links, publishes to blogs, links internally and has Smart Folders among others. You can create a zillion categories, tags and normal folders, and entries can appear in more than one place. It does a lot! It's changed how I use my computer in the long run, because now I'm tying all loose ends to one single place and can leave newborn ideas to cook until I return to them again.

Edit: okay you were typing while I was doing the same.
I have one now but it will only write on 32 bit. A regular journal program is much better than a word processor. The format is one day at a time.
I have used both and a word doc, in my humble opinion does not even come close to my "Daily Journal." The company that made it has long since gone.
I assume this would be next to impossible.

What about a program like OneNote or Evernote? OneNote is usually included with the Home & Student version of Microsoft Office. Evernote is free at http://www.evernote.com.
Both of these would do far more than you are wanting, but they would allow you to create a "note" for each day and journal in it with a timestamp.
I like Evernote because you can access it anywhere since the desktop application sync with the website. They also have desktop applications for both Windows and Mac, along with smartphone apps iPhone, Blackberry, Android, and Windows Mobile.
i heart evernote.
i use it more and more for more things all the time.
the accessibility is hard to go past.
I don't know if you read to your old entries again - but if you do or would like that option, I would recommend a solution that will survive the next computer change, too... Have you thought about using a blog on the internet (or blog software - you can install Wordpress on your own computer locally)? Most blogs have an option for privacy so you'll be the only reader/writer.
Edit: Fyi, just looked up MacJournal and saw that there is a Windows version called WinJournal.
lemarsman, can you give me the details about this Daily Journal program? I assume its for windows. Who is the publisher?
It is Daily Journal and it was by FormalSoft, Inc and licensed under Parsons Technology. Parsons Technology exists but they don't sell this product and I have hunted high and low for updates of the program. It think it is 16 bit software hence it isn't recognized by Windows 7 64 bit. I am trying out one that shows some promise. It is DavidRM Software's "The Journal."
I will have to import 3900 pages to it if I decide to go with it. It is not free.
Thanks
