Hello all, this is my first real post here, so if it could be answered by a previous thread, please let me know.
I'm a recent college grad that has the pleasure of moving back in with mom and dad. Of course, a lot of things that are notoriously 'college' live in a university town solely because they would not do well in suburbia. This is especially true in our small house. With three (adult) children, two dogs, a cat, and a couple of landlords I affectionately call Mom and Dad, there's not much room to spare.
We began by rearranging rooms and even managed to begin a few home renovation projects in the process. Nice snap-together wooden floors really complimented the light grey paint on the walls. All of the larger items (boxspring bed, dresser, nightstand, etc.) were moved into our already cramped hallway, virtually eliminating access to the bathroom as we "improved" our home. I will say that seeing all of that clutter did a good thing for us: it made is realize how many non-essentials crowded our home. A concentrated family effort bore the fruit of a garage sale several weeks later.
Stripped of our burdens of "sentimental comfort," the open space is its own reward. However, we have encountered a problem of a different kind: a lack of floor space. We boxed everything up that we didn't want and sold/donated it around the neighborhood, but what remains is disorganized. I feel like we cleared out all of this space just to occupy it with another clutter-monster.
So we're down to bare bones, now what? What ideas do you guys have for storage of goods large and small. We have a garage and a store room, but it all can't just live on the floor. I'd love to hear tips and recommendations from this community, I thought you were the people to ask!
