Why do I let it pile up?
Well that's been my afternoon spent sorting through the mountain, so now I have system - incoming box, to be filed, and to be dealt with.
Huzzah!
I need to go through the filing system now as it seems H has his own version, but he rarely files either. Time to integrate it all and out it all in one place for emergencies.

I live on top of post mountain. My mail sometimes ends up hither, thither, and yon! I need a dedicated mail area.
I hate how some mail comes in the email and some in the snail mail. If everything could be condensed in to one or the other I'd be happier but it'll never happen unless I print everything important from the email, which seems a bit backwards.

I have a designated area - but it all just sits there!
Final count - 10cm worth to be reposted/redirected, 1.5 cm worth to be filed and 20cm for the recyc bin. Joy!
Have warned H I will be ruining his non-filing system tomorrow!
Can I gently suggest a next step? Eliminate the to-be-filed inbox!
I found that I would pay all my bills on time and never miss a deadline, but I ended up with a to-be-filed inbox that I emptied literally once per year. That cost me money in tax deductions, because I forgot about medical expense receipts and charitable donation paperwork.
Now I file away my paperwork immediately after I open an envelope or I pay a bill. Also, there's no stack of paper on my desk, even for the very short term.
I know what you mean Opadit - but I really don't have time and it'll mean a daily nag of the OH. However I can file once a week, easily!
I'm pretty good about mail -- certain kinds, that is. Junk? Gone. Letters? Read/saved/tossed/etc. But things that need something in order to be finished? Like that catalog that has something I want to order, or the car wash coupon I want to use next week, or the flyer I want to give my sister the next time I see her? Those are the ones that pile up and I worry about losing something in there. Not really sure how to work with those....
