we open the windows a couple of times a day in the winter, for about 5 minutes each time. We don't have exhaust fans in our flat, neither in the loo nor above the elements, so that is not an option but in Canada I relied heavily on them--they also dehumidify the air if your climate is humid. I have lived in a Provence where one's windows would freeze open very quickly if opened in the winter. I have used my blowdryer quite a bit to thaw them enough to close them again!
I also use orange peel and cinnamon sticks on the stove once in a while.
Lavender linen spray could not be easier to make. There are tons of recipes online. My recipe is: 1 cup distilled water, 5 Tbsp vodka, 2 tsp lavender essential oil and an extra couple of drops of peppermint or eucalyptus essential oils.
I love my lampe Berger, and use it routinely. It is actually only isopropyl alcohol with scent, so I buy refills cheaply (isopropyl alcohol is rubbing alcohol, or, Reinigungsalkohol)
