Mostly, I've been ecstatic about deleting 50% of my possessions this year and continuing now to streamline my processes so there is more time for the sentient beings in my life (me included).
This week has been a bit of a fail in all things minimalistic.
1. Realized that I have shredded the check carbons that would prove to a snotty dr's office billing person that I have indeed paid all my copays diligently regardless of their office's inability to deposit the checks.
2. Realized that insisting on printed receipts at the dr's office would actually have been a real swell idea. Receipts have never been offered at this office (!) but I could have insisted.
3. Realized that my trusty homemade excel spreadsheet for finance tracking is not so trusty if I didn't realize two checks have not been cashed for 4 months.
and then...
4. Realized that I neglected to remove my fave Pink Floyd cd from the player before donation.
5. Deleted my facebook account, and then realized that texting and emailing to try to organize social/church/volunteer life is actually a bigger pain in the rear than examining new facebook privacy tricks once a month. Undeleted facebook.
I did learn some stuff. My bank very sweetly suggested that I hold onto my carbons for 12 months. I need to document all health transactions. I need to track my finances even more carefully. I need to declutter mindfully and check pockets/drawers etc before throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I need to be more assertive about receipts. Sometimes streamlining my own life will impact my relationships more than I desire.
So... anyone else had a decluttering fail and learned something valuable from it?
