irishbell, think you are doing beautifully in one of life's big hard situations.
your dad sounds like a practical man and i reckon my own irish dad would do just the same thing!
it is great that you could so quickly rid of the stuff that was upsetting your father.

One of my 18 yr old daughters closest friends was killed in a car accident a few nights ago. I can't even imagine the grief. With worrying about my daughter coping with her losses and my Dad coping, i can't seem to focus on doing anything holiday related, I can't seem to focus. I had to literally force myself to go out Christmas shopping. Thankfully my home is uncluttered and tidy, at least I don't have that to freak out about. Strangely enough, it gives me a sense of comfort/control to look around and see there's nothing hat needs uncluttering or finding a place for- even the bits and pieces I've brought home from dad's. Things didn't call out to me to take them home, I knew instantly what I loved and would have room for and what i could pass on.
This'll be my last post on this thread, it's time to look ahead with positivity! Thanks again for your cybersupport!
Oh gosh, i am ready for 2011.Posted 1 year ago # -
Irishbell, how sad for you and your daughter to have this additional grief on top of the loss of your mother! Sending love to you and your family! Christmas can take a lesser place in this time of mourning. The tradition itself will help to keep you grounded. Don't stress! Do what you are able to do, and let the rest of it slide.

I'm so sorry for your losses, Irishbell. Don't worry about the focus fog - as long as you are doing what absolutely needs to be done, then everything else can wait.

Irishbell, I am so sorry for you. Just do what needs to be done, keep breathing. Yes, your home can be that place of serenity, and you will need that during the next few weeks or more.
Sending a hug, should you choose to accept it.
