I am a grandmother in my sixties. So I certainly do not want a lot of surplus paper hanging around. I have scanned and transfered important documents, family contact info, necessary receipts, some photos of loved ones, and other memorabilia onto my flash drive and CD for back-up. I have done this procedure at my local library, since I choose not to keep a computer at home. For every day, I enjoy keeping the most important daily references with me in my purse: family and close contact phome numbers,
(these include 20 telephone numbers kept on 2 business size cards).
daily inspirational reminders:
a 3 page sections with the headings for my 3 Goals(or values).
One of these goals is learning to play guitar.
and various information or To-do's that are related to the Goals.

I'm fairly organized, but I'm still not satisfied with our paper files, and how best to keep important information. I haven't embraced putting it all on the computer. That's partly because I'd have to put it all on the husband's laptop, and I don't have any faith in the security. (Mac snob here.) I found out today how important it is to have your insurance agent's phone number with you, and it reaffirmed that I would never want to live without a cell phone. A guy backed into my car today. Not only was I able to call 911 immediately, my insurance agent, and my husband at work all before the police got there. No one was physically hurt in the accident.

I keep a list of my phone numbers in my wallet. I have everyone programed in my phone so I never actually dial their number. If I lost my phone I would be in trouble! Also, a list of mine and DH's prescriptions in case we have an emergency and need to know exactly what we take and the mg. In my purse I carry a small flashlight because the electricity went off in a theater once and I don't want to be left in the dark like that again. A small Swiss pocket knife, matches and a hidden $100.00.
Not very uncluttered, huh? But I do like to be prepared.

I lost my pocket knife to forgetting it was there when I flew somewhere :( And I keep my written down phone numbers at home, because I still have a *few* I need memorized (we'll see how long that lasts). But I'm glad I'm not the only one - people make fun of my little paper address book. But I lose my phone all the darn time.
