Thanks again, it's okay for now! I'll keep you posted and yes, candy, I'm hoping to see a change rather soon. I can't live with the uncertainty anymore and don't wish to keep my guards up in my own home the way I've done for quite some time already.

Only just read all about your troubling situation Nina, and do hope you make use of the support around you.
Is there a way you can change the locks, pack his stuff and deposit all of that somewhere neutral?
Keep/change the number of your parents in your phone in a quick dial.
Just some ideas...

I just read your posts and the subsequent ones, NKK. I'm so very sorry to hear it. Take care of yourself - YOU are the only one who'll look out for YOU. It sounds like you've given him plenty of chances and time to overcome his demons and he hasn't been able to do so. I agree with you that it's time to make a major change. You need to protect yourself - I'm so glad you have somewhere to go. Don't hesitate to seek help if you need it. It's so very sad when a situation like this develops, but it sounds as though you've been trying to make things work for a very long time. Best wishes for a much happier future!

Nina, I'm seconding Conny's suggestion to change the locks. Physical abuse, even the threat of it, is IMO a deal-breaker. Your personal safety trumps everything, including someone else's feelings or potential inconvenience at being uncluttered from your life.

Nina: I'm with Astreja here. Physical abuse trumps everything else. Change the locks. Call the support system. Do whatever you need to do. You are too important and valuable to suffer with this kind of stuff. We all are!
A good therapist is worth their weight in gold.

@ninakk - I really enjoy the Be More With Less blog as well as her Project 333. I check that one regularly (along with Unclutterer).

Oh, i agree- absolutely everybody deserves as many chances as it takes,
as long as its not hurting anyone else in the process.
And sometimes, one can only change when they are alone.
Ninakk, maybe your h will get his act together one day,
but you don't have to wait around for it!
