Hi Paisley - the more the merrier!
Day fifteen and out a purple travel coffee mug, a knit your own dog book, and last years Filofax pages - no longer needed.
2/2 out-
8 little girls dresses. Someone gave these to me to divide up between the little girls that I keep. Washed, pressed, and fixed a couple of the hems, they look as good as new. The kids will be so excited.
Several pcs of clothing from dryer to donation bag
My new crock pot box and packaging into the burn bin
De-cluttered my hanging supply basket in one of the playrooms-tossed several empty bottles and accumalated junk/parts and pcs from that.
Plastic plate and bowl decorated with vehicles - "those are for babies, Mama"
A novel.
Tossed a couple of old eyeliner pencils I never liked anyway and a couple of old nail polishes, too.
In, Ikea:
- 4 carpet friction thingies
- Kassett 6 cd boxes and 6 dvd boxes for walk-in closet storage (to replace some boxes mentioned in Out)
- 10 Flyt magazine holders; hubby is a comics collector and I need some for the company
- 3 Heat pot trivets
- 1 banana leaf, round placemat to put underneath the espresso machine which sits in a corner of the countertop (easier to slide and the current one is becoming too flimsy from all the pulling and pushing)
(pretty crazy many of you can buy the same things; Starbucks will finally open here in Finland, but we also have McD and other chains since forever plus Ikea isn't even Finnish)
Out:
- Bin: 3 Heat; gross after hubby's kitchen sessions
- Recycling: 2 wine boxes and 2 pot boxes of crazy sizes and missing covers, beat up etc.
- Donation: placemat
Back in the garage again today. On another thread I mentioned that the garage needed to be worked on NOW because it's going to be hot here very soon. I only spent about half an hour in there and I'm stinky and sweaty. It's not supposed to be this hot so early in the year (and it's only 10:40 in the morning!)
Day 33-Did a lot of organizing and sweeping in the garage. Lots of things compiled into a few boxes that will be organized/sorted as we go along. In the out pile for today: a large styrofoam cooler (others will probably follow), more mystery bags for donation, a mystery box of clothes/shoes for donation and the biggie......a giant rubbermaid storage box filled with an outside Christmas decoration. It's one of those big (maybe 7 feet tall?) inflatable snow globe things for the front yard. DH bought it when he was out with the DDs. They were probably 8 and 12 at the time. We used it one year and it has been a HUGE thorn in my side since-maybe 6 years or so?
It has been in the way each. and. every. time. I go in or out of the garage with laundry. That's about twice a day now for 6 years. I've bumped my shin on the edge of the box an untold amount of times. The empty space is a beautiful thing to see! I can't lift the container but was able to push it to the door. DH isn't aware but he's taking a load of stuff to Goodwill this evening!
Thanks for all the welcoming words! GermanGirl, I think you are right about joining vs. reading-- joining keeps you more accountable. I wanted to read a few threads, but decided I had to take care of some things first. So, out with an old dog toy, several outgrown children's toys, expired sunscreen, and an old bike basket.
I've been too busy to unclutter a single thing the last few days, but ds2 has nominated some books to go. I also cleared a mountain of crap off the dining table, wiped off about a kilo of cat hair, recycled all the junk paper and got rid of a posh cardboard box which someone gave dh which contained champagne and chocolates. I feel like the dining table represents my life in the last week, piled high with lots of different crap to get rid of.
Also uncluttered a big assignment, got up at 6 this morning to finish it and printed it out and gave it in this afternoon. It's 500 words short of the word limit (and I usually go over, not under), but I got sick of thinking about it. It wasn't due till tomorrow but I said to myself I AM NOT GOING IN TO UNI TOMORROW, I need a break! Tomorrow I can catch up on housework a bit.
I also pruned the big rose bush in the front garden and tidied up dead bits of wood etc. It's freezing cold outside but the green waste bin is emptied tomorrow so I wanted to fill it!
decluttered my favorite used bookstore -- whaah! Took my MIL there after her hair appointment to exchange her paperback romances and they are shutting down all four stores. Odd sign on the door -- "due to circumstances beyond our control" -- a note from the landlord saying they had changed the locks because of nonpayment of rent -- a BIG sign saying they're auctioning off everything down to the cash register in two weeks. DH bought us each a $50 gift certificate there for Xmas; they are probably toast. Took the MIL to Half-Priced Books, where she got a load of new books and $10 for her used ones. She doesn't like it as much though. The nice ladies at the other store brought her a roller chair so she could scoot around the store :)
Chucked the old wireless card and antenna, as we had to buy a new one.
great work everyone!
1 more box that used to contain a pot
@ susanintexas, whoa, that's bad news about your Gift Certificate. Hope you can find out if you can redeem it somehow otherwise that'll be a ATAD that you won't have wanted to unclutter.
OUT: the 2011 tax return. I need to print two receipts for the hard copy of the records, but then I'm done. And the return has already been accepted, so money is coming our way!
And I think DH's extremely nasty cold is at last on its way out.
1 book.
Still busy with wrapping things sold on eBay.
Toss - clamshell sytle tea leaf holder. I've got two others that I use now, a strainer that sits on top of the cup and a fancy one that I received for Christmas.
Not that I need to keep two, but I'm just getting started on this declutter thing!
Answered a freecycle want and got rid of a microscope that had never been used.
I told my 5-y-old that the dress-up hats were making me crazy because we had too many to fit in their spot on top of the dress-up box. I asked him to pick two to give away - and he did, in about 15 seconds! We agreed that he'd take them to school for the dress up area. Hooray!
Also out, an inch at least of paper that had been piled in a windowsill downstairs.
Trash: Bottle of cheap, nasty barbecue sauce; serving of frozen pork.
Paper Project day 1:
So far, only an IN today, a new digital food scale to weigh the purged papers. Haven't actually purged any papers yet. But I will! I will!
I seem to still be in closet mode. Also IN today: 2 new bras, beautiful, perfect fit, and 75% off, so only $8 each.
And also IN: 2 single overdoor coat hooks that each accommodate 2-3 items. The overdoor rack I liked best was $40, whereas this 2-pack of hooks was $5. They'll do until something better and affordable comes along. And actually, they're doing quite well right now... sturdy and unobtrusive. Maybe that's all I need.
I've been so busy out spending money that I haven't worked on the sideboard drawers either. But the night is young... it's only 9:59pm.
Out to Goodwill bag: 1 bra I seldom wore because of its annoyingly uncomfortable molded cups
Out to trash: 1 bra that had long since lost its joie de vivre
Day Sixteen, Out the large cardboard box our heater came in last winter. That's all for today but it is still a thing. Looking forward to the weekend want to attack the study - plenty to go out of there. Have a great weekend everyone.
Out to Free Box: 2 magazines
