Slower progress over the weekend, but still some. Out: Kids' unused sports equipment, candles, a pair of pants, a coffee grinder (I have another), and lots of catalogs.

Out today: old hoodie that was puckered and fit in a weird way
Back in: old bartending kit (that we never use) because DH complained that we didn't have a jigger and should buy one...the kit has been sitting in our kitchen for years. Oh well.Posted 3 months ago # -
I forgot to post yesterday, though it's not really ATAD...
Kitchen Project day 2:
Mounted the pot rack on the wall above my stovetop. Moved pans from the bottom cabinet up to the hanging rack. Nothing actually went out the door, but now I'll be able to organize the rest of that cabinet. It's much like relocating the first layer of stuff from my closet. And for today...
Paper Project day 3:
Sorted papers for 1 hour.Trash/shredder: 1 lb 1 oz paper
Total to date: 1 lb 12 1/4 ozMy little cat is a prolific pooper and a willing assistant in processing shredded paper in her litterbox. But even so, she's not going to be able to keep up with this increased volume of shreds. I have three choices, the key requirement being no-cost disposal: (1) toss the shredded paper down my apartment building's landfill trash chute; (2) toss it down the all-purpose recycling chute, where it'll get gunked up from the bottles and cans, and then separated out at the city recycler and tossed into landfill; or (3) haul bags full of shreds by bus to the community center where the paper is kept separate and clean for proper recycling.
I can't think of any other no-cost alternatives. And actually option 3 requires the purchase of trash bags. I may as well go with option 1, which is what happens anyway when kitty has done her job. Or I could go for option 2, same difference as far as the shreds ending up in landfill, but I might be helping to keep those city separators employed. Decisions, decisions...

Thought I'd just pop in and everyone is super busy with the atad!
@ninakk: I hope you're doing OK- you're in my thoughts!
And condolences to @onaroll and lemon about their pets- you loved them (and they loved you!) While you were together, and that's all one can really ask for in animals or people, I suppose.
Out:
-shower caps (new, over 100) to local beauty parlor
-little shampoo bottles to recycling
- 15 pairs of shoes donated
-several little toys (balls, etc) donated
- old shoe boxes to recycling
- old pipes (used as curtain rods) to metal recycling
- random paper and boxes to recycling
I need to start getting ready for exams now, but I can't motivate myself to study and I don't have the focus to sit and figure out why. I just hope I do well enough to get to the interview stage.
See you in March!
EDIt: anybody have an ipad? What are the benefits? Cons?Posted 3 months ago # -
Did a bit more tidying up than actually ATAD'ing, but managed to find a few things to go out:
- a bracelet that's too wide and chunky (for donation)
- a pair of slippers (1 in, 1 out - my mom gave me a pair that she found uncomfortable but seem fine to me)
- 1 more binder from school (donation) and the corresponding 1 inch of paper that filled it (recycling)lemon and OnARoll, so sorry to hear about the loss of your pets. It is always hard to say good-bye, even when it is expected.

10 cards from DD's 2nd birthday, and an "I am 2" badge - she turns 7 next week.
Posted 3 months ago # -
Tossed:
- a little bottle of cuticle oil. Old, more than half-emopty, and my rose salve does a much better job.
- a few hair clips and elastics that had seen better days.
- business cards from people I either don't remember or have no intention of contactingTasks uncluttered last week:
- sent in my passport renewal application, a good 5 months before the expiry date of the old passport. Feeling all sorts of grown up about that one.
- finished a book I'd been slowly reading for the past few months. Good read, just had to make time for it. My commute used to be my reading time, but since I uncluttered that...
- wrote and sent in 3 more pieces for my freelance writing gig. 2 more done and ready to go, and only one last one left to write in my current series. Who knew writing could be so much less scary once I got started.Posted 3 months ago # -
Put a skirt suit in the donation pile (I've had it since 2002)! Also tossed a bunch of junk mail and magazines. Will return library books this afternoon. Also hope to go through the over-door-hanging compartments and declutter hosiery (especially now that I'll be working from home), and hope to reorganize closet (again - it's an ongoing process).

Good luck with your exams, sash!
Anita, you have reminded me I need to renew 3 passports very soon, mine expires in June and ds1's 2 passports are May and June I think. His Australian one I have to make an appointment, get photos of exquisitely exact dimensions and trek up to London to get it renewed. Sigh. Plus it's expensive! Ds2 I did both his last year and dh was last year too but his lasts 10 years instead of the boys' 5 years. And I need to get UK citizenship as well...
Bunch of annoying junk the kids brought home after their weekend away with dh.Posted 3 months ago # -
I had an excellent decluttering weekend.
Two bags of books donated to the library. (Including five annotated editions of Shakespeare plays that had been in DH's collection for a decade +.)
Three bags of miscellaneous donated to Goodwill.
Old bedspread, two old throw pillows, and box from our new ice-cream machine into the trash.

A very happy freecycling student from Moldavia just walked away with my old vacuum cleaner. He's happy, I'm happy. Freecycle is such a nice idea.
Now, off to see what I can find for ATAD today, this one doesn't count since I had already listed it here a couple of days ago.

four more books! all from h's collection. i've been working on the concept of "can we find this information elsewhere?" and "do we own duplicates of information?" with him and he's catching on. his job (pastor) does require the use of reference books, but the vast majority of information can be found online or he can borrow books from his co-workers. they both have huge houses, let them store the 12 volume commentary sets!
also, not out yet, but a huge victory - h looked at his white t-shirts and declared them all rags. they've been yellowing and stained for a while, but he insisted they were fine. once he buys new the old are as good as gone.

Don't talk about Ice Cream or I may have to raid the freezer!
A thing or a few for today to the charity bag.
Too many parcel bows to ever use for presents. I bought a big box of ribbons and rosettes/bows, the ribbons have been used up but loads of bows remained.
3 small ski tops, dh is now in medium ones passed down from ds who is in large, ds just grew a more manly chest, dh now has a tummy that he never used to!Posted 3 months ago #
