Yes, Happy New Year everyone, and thank you! (I might open the chocolate schnapps to celebrate! ;) )

Out: 2010 diary. Pair of shoes added to new charity bag - too worn out to wear party tonight.
Dh is currently hauling accumulated stuff to the dump.

Going away for 2 nights (with the inlaws, alas) but will crack on when we get back.

woohoo! happy New Year (guten Rutsch!)
out: a big bag of paper recycling
a big bag of glass/plastic recycling (these are regular things, but still, it feels good)

    and...

donated (yippee!): 3 bags full of DH's old (mostly new and worn once each) sweaters, tshirts, and belts.

it is so much easier to donate things from his side of the closet, especially as he is so pathetically grateful for the organizing I do of his stuff. My stuff is a different matter. It is more crowded, although my side also houses all the household linens (tablecloths, sheets, blankets, extra set of duvet covers, etc) --plus all my craft supplies. We actually have very few clothes for two people who have to have a work wardrobe, and my weight has gone up and down this last year. His stays stable so he wears the same clothes.
I go through my closet at least 4 times per year, as that is what is required to maximize space.

Nonetheless, I had a very uncluttered birthday and Christmas and it looks like a strong start to an uncluttered new year!

Ok, I think I'm at -5 since I just received a gift of china for which we had registered. However, I did toss a bunch of fabric and fabric scraps. Now I have to tidy things up before we have a party tomorrow.

Give away/Transfer along: Varied Christmas gifts and holiday treats

Toss: Gift wrap and ribbons (from Christmas gifts received)

From the freezer tundra came a frozen turkey (the other day actually) being defrosted for the new year.

Gave away a holiday banquet for the extended family from which we rolled away with boxes of left overs and gifts in hand.

Donated: 3 books from the pile of 25 books that I've pulled from the shelves to sell on eBay. If they don't sell, they'll be donated, too.

It's the last hours of 2010 still here in the US. Looking back at all the stuff that I've decluttered from my life during this year of downsizing... much of it was a painful process, done long before finding this forum. But now I'm actually looking forward to ATAD in 2011 and to being energized by you all... you're so inspiring, smart, articulate, and funny! Happy Uncluttered New Year to us all!

trashed: a small-ish candle in a jar, a gift from a friend. I would probably forget it was burning and incinerate the neighborhood. Am in the process of "uncluttering" a bunch of leaves from the front yard into the compost bin.

    happy new year everybody!
it is new year's day in australia and i am up and feeling energetic.
i'll finish the bookcase declutter today and already have my eye on a handful of books that can move on now.

most of my decluttering is done, but i'll be hanging around ...as a reminder to myself not to get complacent.
you are all great inspiration when it comes to thinking about what needs to be looked at next.
and decluttering is an ongoing process, really.

now i am considering throwing a party in late january, to help with those post-holiday blues that a lot of folks seem to succumb to. we all like to have something to look forward to.

    Happy new year!

I still have lots to declutter.

Just decluttered some end of year paperwork - hallelujah!

They say what one does on the new years day is what you'll be doing all year and I'll be decluttering and cleaning house . . .

My goal is to follow in the footsteps of those of you who have done most of your decluttering (Yea bandicoot et al!)

Finally dropped a huge load off of clutter at Goodwill. Very fitting for the last day of 2010!!

Even better, upon returning home my husband actually admitted that he had too many shirts he didn't wear, and now I have a bag of nice stuff to give to my friend's son. :)

Cleaned the kitchen sink counter for the brand new dish rack and drainer, including using old rubbing alcohol to wipe and degerm the area. That area of the kitchen is good to go now. Will tackle other areas later today :)

Toss: utensils, carving knives, steak knives, etc etc from the kitchen; miscellaneous clutter, used gift wrap, ribbons, old stuff from under the sink bathroom storage area

Received: book in the mail and recycled the cardboard it came in.

Give away seeds and pot chips and hair conditioner

    Started decluttering the car.

Started decluttering under the sink storage in a bathroom.

More to go later this first day of 2011 :D, including but not limited to:

    1. clearing out ALL the rest of the kitchen drawers

    2. uncluttering ALL the rest of the kitchen counters

    3. pet clutter

    4. laundry room clutter

    5. start culling clothing storage closet

    6. start a list and tack it up in plain view on the refrigerator door

    7. finish packaging the box of sweaters and mail it out (!)

    8. do some garage tidying up

    9. do once over round in whole home of easy to toss/donate stuff

I hope to be able to do a lot since it's the first day and they say what you do on the first day of the year is what you will be doing all year. If I can do a lot today then it'll be off to a good start hey.

    Finished:

X 1. clearing out ALL the rest of the kitchen drawers

X 2. uncluttering some of the rest of the kitchen counters

    X 3. pet clutter

    X 4. laundry room clutter

X 5. start culling clothing storage closet

0 6. start a list and tack it up in plain view on the refrigerator door

x 7. finish packaging the box of sweaters and mail it out (!) [finished packing and taping; will mail out monday.

0 8. do some garage tidying up

X 9. do once over round in whole home of easy to toss/donate stuff [from every room and area - had two kitchen trash bags - off to a nice start for the year.

I'd hoped to be able to do a lot since it was the first day and they say what you do on the first day of the year is what you will be doing all year. I did a lot so I was off to a good start for 2011.

Besides the clear up I baked a turkey for our pot luck. Instead of doing stuff in the garage I cleaned up a medicine cabinet and now it's empty and waiting a last wipe down with rubbing alcohol (old) I'd found the other day and used to wipe down kitchen counters.

    My to do for today:

    1. Unclutter final paper work for end of year

    2. Do another once around around the home letting go of at least one item from each room/area

    3. Continue kitchen counter clear away

    4. Continue sorting stuff I took out from kitchen drawers into keep vs give away

    5. Take out more stuff to the trash bin

    1/3/11

Tossed at least one item or more from each room/area of the home
    Continued kitchen counter clear up
Sorted some stuff taken out earlier from the kitchen drawers
Took out l large and 3 small bags to trash bin
Went to mail the box of sweaters but line was long and only one worker on duty so left and will mail another day.
    Decluttered the car
Garage Project: put a box of recycle stuff into the recycle bin
Sorted out left over turkey into one ounce servings using the new food scale which is digital and battery operated (no cord!) and finally understand what my girlfriend used to do with her food plan. I finally understand what 1 ounce is! So you know when they reference ounces in books I can now know what they mean! Such little things make for fun in life.
Decluttered a box of cookies to the postperson.
Decluttered turkey stock into gravy using arrowroot (a first for me, both the gravy and arrowroot)
Passing on more chocolates from Christmas which is pretty easy for this nonchocolate person except in mole, yum.

To do: continue working on and finish the final paper work for the end of year and another once around the home to let go of things from each room/area. It takes some time and energy, but it gets the job done.

Still continuing to work on and finish the final paper work for the end of the year.

Did another once around the home and tossed 3 1/2 kitchen trash bags of misc stuff including a 2006 new year resolution list I came across (most of which I choose not to do apparently); and recycled a small box into which I piled envelops and old xerox paper from an old desk drawer (why?) as well as newspapers I found in the laundry room (why?).

This once around does take some time and energy but is helping get the job done.

Do do: finish the paperwork and do another once around.

Twice around left me with 6 large trash bags (mostly of large sofa cushions) as well a numerous kitchen trash bags. Dropped off the large bags at a dump and smaller bags in a bin. Stuff also left by PNN.

Lots of misc stuff went. It gets easier to do; and to do more too.

    To do today:

finish up that paperwork!!! Also another go round.
