Call me crazy but I have made a little plan with some loose deadlines for Christmas this year. I do want to celebrate it and I do want to achieve some things, but I want to do it in style (whatever that means) and, above all, I want to declutter the stress. I will refuse to jump on the Christmas-stress wagon that my dear mom keeps rolling, so I hereby announce that my planning starts in September this year.
September:
- 30.9.: Look for card inspiration online; Etsy and a few other sites
October:
- 31.10.: Design christmas cards
- 31.10.: Collect ideas for edible gifts (if I choose to go that road)
- 31.10.: Check with grocery store when one should order the ham
November:
- 15.11.: Put together list of names for cards
- 15.11.: Put together list of gifts
- 15.11.: Go through wrapping materials and gift tags/cards
- 25.11.: Go through pantry
- 27.11.: Buy what is needed in pantry
- 30.11.: Buy christmas stamps and the normal kind, ask for Priority stickers
- 30.11.: Print christmas cards
- 30.11.: Polish mom's silver
December:
- 11.12.: Buy or make last presents
- 11.12.: Get the little box of decorations from the basement, go through and purge unwanted ones
- 11.12.: Make a wreath for the door
- 14.12.: Write christmas cards and envelopes
- 15.12.: Mail cards
- 17.12.: Buy a small tree that goes on top of the kitchen table
- 22.12.: Make the ham (I make one for my own household, mom makes the one for Christmas eve)
- 22.12.: Charge the camera battery and check the memory card
- 22.12.: Decide on outfit (I don't dry clean so if something needs to be washed I can do so myself)
We might have someone over on one of the days after Christmas eve, so that meal would need some planning in advance. I'd make a deadline for that on the 15.12.
