Hmm. I said in the January goals thread that I was going to start posting here about my daily counts from the 4 food groups, or at least my fruit/veg count.
Today was not a spectacular day. Decent dinner - spaghetti squash casserole with tomato sauce, mozzarella, veggie hot dogs (freezer decluttering). So a couple of veggie servings there. But other than that, too many sweets (donut with lunch, butter tarts to snack on this evening) and no other large serving of fruit or veg. Lettuce and tomato on lunch sandwich, raisins in the butter tarts, etc. (What? The raisins still count! Just 'cause they are covered in pure sugar you want to discount them?)
Oh, you can absolutely count the raisins.
Thanks Jennifer!
Well i did Plyometrics yesterday (it was though!) but I thought i did ok, burned 600kcal in just over an hour! But then in the afternoon/evening i had a terrible migraine attack. I suffer from neck-pain and often get headaches from it but only had 2-3 migraine attacks so far. I think it was probably exercise induced so today I am taking it easy (still got a bit of a headache).
On the plus side: all ready lost 0.9kg in just 2 days!
Nina, I have migraines, too, and I've concluded that mine arise from tense neck/shoulder region, which in turn happens while I'm very stressed. Do you think yours could maybe have some similar pattern? Well done on the weight loss :)
Letgtr, of course it matters a great deal who the leader is! I'm sorry you're frustrated with yourself, but you've already started correcting the situation and the previous days don't ever have to return again since you do have a choice. I find comfort in the small things; if I reduce compared to yesterday it's a better day and eventually the reduction of whatever spreads like Newton's rings to produce other kinds of reductions of unhealthy stuff. In the end there's nothing to reduce :)
Yikes!
530 kcal per 100 g banana chips
95 per 100 g fresh banana
Talk about added stuff... If you eat a whole bag of those chips, you're friggin close to the daily amount when restricting calories.
Day 310/R3-d101-phase3d67=phase4d47: Very early morning, if deduct a lb for that then +4.6, same as yesterday extra extra yesterday and extra extra extra stress today (new base wt = wt on last day of taking the drops) ... Although some things are starting to work their way out, emergencies continue today ... stress (and my response to it) may affect my wt and keep it up one way or another. When it rains it typhoons. Into each life some rain must fall - sometimes all at once ... I'll cut myself some slack due to the extra ordinary stress and holidays ...
This week will be an out of the ordinary stressful week, not necessarily bad, just stress that comes with changes, but stressful nonetheless.
Day 53 of 5-HTP - suspending 5-HTP for a bit since I just started the holistic program.
Day 3 of supplements from holistic practitioner. Sorting out when to take what and with what ... Getting a hold on the supplements. They include a detox mixing drops with water and sipping it all day.

Day 311/R3-d102-phase3d68=phase4d48: Very early morning again (new base wt = wt on last day of taking the drops) ... Although some things are starting to subside, emergencies continue today ... stress (and my response to it) may affect my wt and keep it up one way or another. When it rains it typhoons. Into each life some rain must fall - sometimes all at once ... I'll cut myself some slack due to the extra ordinary stress and holidays ...

Day 54 of 5-HTP - suspending 5-HTP for a bit since I just started the holistic program.
Day 4 of supplements from holistic practitioner. Continuing the program. Will see HP on Saturday. It's a very intense program. HP will reassess after this week on supplements and then give me a very precise individualized food chart or lists.
I have a schedule change and am starting the day very early so I'll have to figure out how to do my weighing - factoring in also taking supplements. Maybe adjust the weight base? Also need to figure out how to adjust my mange'ing to my new schedule.
Nina: Your post on having a migraine attack after the exercising reminded me of something I read that said migraines are caused by dehydration. Do you know if drinking a lot of water would help prevent a future one?
Ninakk - drying fruit concentrates the sugar. :). Plus when the chips are small, it's easy to eat more than one banana worth. The fresh ones are better for you in many ways.
ntch, that's interesting info! I'll look into it and will try increasing the fluid intake next time I have an attack.
pkilmain, the worst is that they also have added sweeteners such as honey. I knew they had some, but that the kcal/100g would be that bad was a huge shock earlier today.
Ninakk: Yes, i do think my tense shoulders are a factor but that usually only means bad headaches, not full on migraines. I have a great massage therapist that lives too far away so I'm going to look for one closer by as that is something that really helps.
NTCH: Thought of that too and will measure my drinking for a while. I always had the feeling I drink enough - but then my feeling could be off (plus the added exercise means i probably need more water). Also think it could be a change in diet - more protein and less carbs, no sugar.
Hope I can train again tomorrow but might take it a bit slower for the first 1-2 weeks to ease my body into it.
Have been disgracefully lazy since Sunday...Tomorrow the kids finally go back to school so I'm doing a school run run after I've dropped them off, then 2 classes on Friday. Back to normal for a little while, hurray!
7 mile run in a gale followed by Urban Rebound. Life is good!

Walking this week, outside at park yesterday, inside today. My great-niece is visiting with her three year-old daughter, and I've been more active than usual, which is a good thing. Today I took four of my nieces to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and walked around for six hours. It was strolling, but I used stairs and kept moving.
Took an hour for lunch, had clam chowder and Caesar salad (dressing on the side) and two non-fat lattes (my drink of choice).
I also get migraines, and know what a monkey wrench they can throw in a day's plans. Staying well-hydrated does make a difference for me. Getting plenty of rest is essential too, which I'm NOT doing right now, so, g'night!
After a 2 day break I did another workout today: Shoulders& Arms plus Abs. Went very well. I am definitely better at strength exercises then I am at cardio. I think once the days get longer and warmer I will start taking up running again. But then, when to find the time? On this program I am already exercising 1-1.5h a day 6x a week...
That's a lot of time, Nina! Presumably it's an all over body workout which includes cardio? I exercise a lot, but not that much...
Body Combat and Body Pump today, followed by an hour at the allotment. I spent 2 hours yesterday afternoon wheeling barrows of woodchip around so I'm stiff and sore from that more than the workouts. A rest day tomorrow, I'm knackered. I did have someone at aerobics come and tell me I'd lost lots of weight though, which is always good :) I tried out my new trainers and they were stiff at first but now they're comfy.
