I really like the idea of this thread. Very good ntch, thank you!
A small silly thing - but I didn't get drunk with my friends on new years eve... Stayed at the party until 3AM but drank water the last few hours. Which meant I woke up early without the hangover today. Feels great. :)
(now I'll google what a holistic program is!)
I'm just about to go out for a run :)
What a good idea ntch. I am going to go for a long walk later after a snoozy lie in.
I can't say I was quite as good as Swede, but I mainly drank fizz followed by lots of water then tea, followed by a bacon sandwich this morning so am fairly perky. I also went to bed fairly early with ear plugs in, so drowned out my neighbours singing!
My action is continuing today. I've been a week without soda, so I wanted to celebrate positive actions I believe will make a difference in weight, sleep habits, bladder issues and my dentist bill!
Today I have a family gathering planned, which will result in a cleaner house as I prepare. Yay!
10 mins of stretching when I got up this morning.
Working on my room-by-room timed pick-up/cleaning- about half done
Getting ready to go to the store, to finish my list of a healthier version of multi-freezer meal beef stack- my 1st attempt at doing the healthier version-hoping to eat and prepare cleaner meals for my family this year.
I met with a personal trainer at the gym yesterday (included with the membership). He oriented me to the equipment and gave me some tips about good things to eat and not so good things to eat and designed a basic plan for me. Then I did an hour workout.
Today I did my hour workout -- not sore at all but my body has noticed I required some movement out of it today.
I played a New Year's concert in the clarinet section of a second community band, and have decided to join them for the rest of the year. That'll give me roughly twice as many rehearsals and twice as many gigs, and give my playing another boost.
When I joined the first band last January my teacher noticed a lot of positive changes within only a few weeks, so this is something that does me a lot of good. Two bands at a time is my limit, though; I'm not going to try for three.
Made my kids tidy their rooms before being allowed any of dh's cake/donut. Given I spent over an entire day helping them muck out their rooms only about 2 weeks ago, I really don't want them to get too disgusting again...I also made ds1 empty the dishwasher by himself as he lied to me about having done it yesterday, he gets to do it by himself for 2 days straight, with a day added for every time he doesn't do it when asked :) Love giving consequences to my kids :)
2. (a) Cleared a shelf in a bookcase and arranged supplements from my holistic practioner ("HP") and started figuring out when to take what and with what. This program is a big commitment and I have a big folder HP made up for me to go through. It's all based on the individual so everyone has a different program tailored to them. Exciting! The journey of a thousand miles that began with a single step continues with more single steps. An extrapolation of Lao Tsu.
(b) 2 bags of trash ready to be taken to the bin.
(c) 2 books set aside to donate
(d) cleared off a table
(e) start thinking about meal planning ala susanintexas
(f) recycle a fountain I received for Christmas
It has been hot Hot HOT here; over 40C yesterday and it was still 36C at midnight. I need to get into our roof storage space to put away the guest bed linen and a few other things. Unfortunately it is too hot to go up there under the tin roof. I set myself a passive and cool organising task - creating an inventory of my clothes. Last year someone had the idea of keeping all the spare buttons and threads that come with clothes in a photo album so they do not get lost. I have a small flip book with pockets and space for 52 items, so I think that will be my clothing limit.
Roll on the cool change because I am getting stir crazy!
I bought my 2012 planner today. I only had 2 things to transfer over (a volunteer event and a social event). No unfinished tasks!
Eurgh, JTT, hate those sticky hot nights! Hopefully it'll cool down for you soon! Here we've been having gales and torrential rain this morning, so I took advantage of being housebound by vacuuming the entire house, changing the vacuum bag and changing the filter too. This is my number 1 most hated task but it's much easier when ds2 is home as he loves unplugging the Hoover and reeling in the cord for me! Since I have to unplug 4 times to do all the house, this means 4 less trips up and down the stairs :)
3. a) Dextoxing, literally and figuratively
b) Coming full circle today
I love the idea of this thread. NTCH, thank you for starting it!
Jan 1: took my friend up on an offer to go to a scandinavian spa. I'd only ever been in the spring/summer, when really the winter is the best time to enjoy the whole hot-cold cycle thing. It was a fantastic experience, may turn it into a New Year's Day tradition with her.
Jan 2: made a commitment to entertain more. Boyfriend and I are always juggling about 14 things at once, so neither of us get to see our friends much. But lately we've organized a couple of dinners/lunches at our place, and everyone had a great time. So our resolution is to organize something at least monthly, to keep all of us in touch (and well fed!).
Today: going back to my chiropractor for an adjustment, after over a month off. It will feel good to have my spine properly aligned again.
I cuddled with my cats. Everyday they make me laugh and smile.
Last night I got on a plane and am in the process of taking myself (and DH) from -18F to about 75F best thing for my mental health. :)
tidied up the den, dining room, and kitchen this morning, so that it won't be glaring at me when I get home from teaching tonight.
Yesterday: thanks to the boyfriend, I rediscovered some old video games I used to love as a kid. They are now free to download (abandonware), so I downloaded about 4 of them and took a trip back in time to circa 1994. For the record, Jazz Jackrabbit is the most awesome 2D side-scrolling PC game of all time. I mean, who doesn't want to play a green bunny that's on an intergalactic journey to defeat an evil turtle, using a variety of heavy weapons?
Today: going to a hot yoga class taught by a good friend. She's a fantastic teacher, and hot yoga is just what my achy muscles need to help me get through the winter.
Made myself some hot cocoa, (hot chocolate drink) using up some of the cooking chocolate. Yummmm.
