Workspace of the Week: Let the light shine in
This week’s Workspace of the Week is YinYang’s new home office:
The windows in this Australian office are downright blissful. To be honest, the office could be outfitted with a card table and a broken chair and I’d have still likely featured it. However, it is much more than pretty windows, it is a wonderfully streamlined desk and office space that would make work very simple to complete. The monitor is on a telescoping arm that makes adjusting it and pushing it back off the desk space possible. All of the equipment needed on a daily basis is within immediate reach and nothing else appears to be cluttering up the work surface. When summer heads to the southern hemisphere, I would love to see an image of those windows open — I imagine it has to be a glorious space to work then, too.
Want to have your own workspace featured in Workspace of the Week? Submit a picture to the Unclutterer flickr pool. Check it out because we have a nice little community brewing there. Also, don’t forget that workspaces aren’t just desks. If you’re a cook, it’s a kitchen; if you’re a carpenter, it’s your workbench.

Ooohh la la! I have window envy!

This is one of the first desks I’ve seen in this feature where it looks like I could actually get some work done. Often, the surface space on the featured desks is so small that it looks like you could barely fit a single sheet of paper on it. I’d love to have an office like this.

Depending on where in Australia this workplace is, the windows would probably not be open in Summer – too many insects, and I can’t see any flywire screens!

Reminds me of a couple of Queenslanders I lived in at Uni. Love all those casement windows. Mozzie coils would be a must if there are no screens.

@Erin – thanks for the mention. I’m honoured to be on your site.
@Lynda – the chair mobile was present from my sister. It’s made by Flensted and they have loads of other designs.
@Lynn – I was lucky finding this place, as it had been renovated well, keeping a lot of the original features.
@Jen – I like having enough space to spread out over, especially if I’m doing a couple of things at the same time.
@Claire & Kaz – I only moved in this April, so haven’t had a whole summer yet, but when it was hot, with the windows at this end of the house open and doors at the back of the house, the flies seemed to just go through the house. Not sure how bad the mozzies will be, but I have loads of coils ready!! There is an aircon, but I prefer not to use it.

OMG – soo beautiful. …I’m not sure how much I’d get done in a place like that, but I’d love to be in that room for much of the time I spend indoors

I love all the light, but I think looking at the monitor with the window, sans blinds, behind it will be hard on the eyes.

What a great looking room. I am in the process of redoing my office now and love the light. My office is dark and I think it has a negative effect on my energy, I need to do something more like this.
Thanks for the great photo.
