The question about the motorcycle gear is not about what to do with the gear it’s all about making a decision. The poser claims they really want to replace their motorcycle but it seems they wont accept a used one but only a brand new one. Therefore the desire slips from year to year because the bar for the decision has been set too high. With the bar at a impossible to reach point, holding onto things for a “someday” is not a good idea. Because “someday” in reality will never come.

If you really want to do something set the bar at a point where you can start doing it now. To go with the motorcycle thing, You can get a really nice used motorcycle for less than $1800.00 I have seen good condition ones for as low as $800.00.. This get’s you on the bike NOW instead of saving up that $12,500.00 to buy the new one you want.

So my advice for them is to either revise the desire to get on track to doing it right away, or get rid of the stuff that sits waiting year after year.
