Hmm, I dunno ... I find this a bit clunky and - as Susan notes - rather short for the purpose! The footprint is not particularly small and the style is pretty self-defining. Repurposing furniture would be more up my alley.

Just as an example, an old dresser (or even a nightstand) from a thrift shop would typically be less than 27.5 inches deep and would have a wide surface for mail/key/misc baskets; attach a solid piece of plywood upright to one side and screw in coat hooks on the "outside" and a pegboard on the "inside;" mount a mirror on the wall behind it ... ?

It reminds me of those old Barbie storage trunks! So cute, and an elegant solution for those of us with no mudroom, coat closet, or even "landing strip!"

@Susan -- I was thinking that you could easily attach hooks to the back of the unit or use hooks on a wall or a coat tree next to it. We have an Eames Hang-It-All on the wall next to our door, so I imagined something like that would work well with it.
