The shelves behind the desk would be perfect for me. I am naturally distractable and if something is in my line of sight it will diffract my concentration like a mental prism.

I do need things within reach, so the chair on wheels is a must-have at the desk.

Nice workspace.

Interesting mention of light by i’morganized. Light is a big issue for me as an artist, and especially being a bit older (eyes not so great).

Being left-handed I like the light on the right, of course, and I find it works better to the side than facing, as that way you don’t have glare behind the computer or in your eyes.

I need my desk in the middle of the space to some extent – if it’s against the wall, it makes me feel a bit claustrophobic! So it’s nice to see this picture which also makes use of the room space.

This is a lovely space. I’d love to have a recliner in my office! What a great idea for reading and thinking.

i’morganized said Just an AMAZING space. I LOVE IT! My only comment is that light should be coming over your left shoulder. As configured, you have natural light and artifical light both over your right shoulder. Thanks in advance for adressing this!

It is a peaceful room but I am interested in whether you have achieved optimum orientation for feng shui. Can you tell us what direction the window is facing and if the office entry faces the front of your home?

Hi IJM –love the serenity of your office. I read your info in flicker. Are you “naturally” organized (ex getting inbox to zero, putting away all papers,etc) or is this something you have to work on deliberately? I am not naturally orderly and really have to work at it so I am always fascinated when someone seems to come by this naturally!
