Workspace of the Week: Pulled together
This week’s Workspace of the Week is Cleland08′s home workspace:
I like Cleland08′s office because it was inexpensive to create (if you go to the Flickr original you can mouse over the image to read all the objects’ histories) and it fully suits her needs. To create something great, you don’t always have to drop a lot of money to do it. From the $15 filing cabinet found on Craigslist to the desk lamp snagged from her parents house, all of these pieces work together to make a comfortable, organized, and useful space. I also really like the way she organizes her writing implements behind the laptop. Thank you, Cleland08, for your submission to our pool. You have a terrific work space.
Want to have your own workspace featured in Workspace of the Week? Submit a picture to the Unclutterer flickr pool. Check it out because we have a nice little community brewing there. Also, don’t forget that workspaces aren’t just desks. If you’re a cook, it’s a kitchen; if you’re a carpenter, it’s your workbench.

Fabulous space, but on the Flickr photo the one thing NOT identified in the mouse-over is the specifics of the wall-mounted rail above the computer, the one with plastic bins for pencils, etc. I know it says IKEA, but that’s a lot of catalog to go through online!

It looks great! I love the plastic bins!
Are those pads to help your wrists?

I just told Cleland08 that this could be my desk.
I have the same Ikea white desk with the cord organiser thingamajig under it and the same chair. I even have a shelf over my table.
The big difference between mine and hers is that hers is clean and mine is a mess. To see that a desk (exactly) like mine can be that clean — if I put some effort into cleaning it up — is so inspiring.
I’m going to clean it first thing tomorrow morning.

I agree, the little plastic baskets are a nice touch.
The whole workplace has a warm feeling and looks very inviting.

I love this. It’s neat and peaceful-looking but still has personality. That shelf is awesome.

The plastic pencil bins (above & behind the computer) from ikea are found in the section for bathroom accessories. I bought one there last year to use in a similar way.

The wall-mounted rail is in the kitchen section, also in the bathroom section – conveniently, Ikea puts the cups next to the rails. And hooks, if you’re so inclined. I have the same rail with hooks holding metal measuring cups in my kitchen.

Oh, & the metal bar above is the magnetic knife rack, sold in kitchen section (and, for a brief time @ our Ikea, in the office section).

It looks great. It reminds me the old proverb “ Work is Worship”. Thanking you for remembrance of the old gospel.
