I ended up ordering a few of these for a work project and now have one in our back restroom, which has no outlets for a night light (shower stall/toilet only) - http://www.goldengadgets.com/LED-Light-Bulbs-LED-Flood-Lights/c12_85/p1917/PIR-Auto-Sensor-LED-Lamp/product_info.html

It is motion sensitive, battery operated, and has adjustments for sensitivity, brightness of the LEDs, as well as a timer option to turn off by itself. Coupon code "DAD09" should still be good for about 10% off.

We use these in florida as part of our hurricane emergency supplies. I personally used them when our electricity went out a few years ago during hurricane frances. they are much easier to use than flashlites when you are sitting around waiting for power to come on.

You can get motion-sensitive versions of these lights that are much more useful. I found with the click-on-click-off versions I was always forgetting to turn them off and so the batteries would usually be flat. The motion-sensitive ones turn on when you open or go into the closet, so the batteries last for a long time and you can use more than one. They are more expensive though, about $15 from dealextreme.com, though the site seems to be down at the moment.

Have you used these lights? I have tried similar, though they may not have been LED, and they were practically useless. The light emitted is not bright enough to light up my tiny laundry alcove off of my kitchen (the installed light is integrated with the fan, which is very noisy).

Love the lights but if you don't want to see clutter in an area, you wont turn them on. Would be better if they could remotely tune into another switch somewhere so it all turns on at the same time.

Don't know if a device like that exists though......

Love the 'stache on Charlie Cat.

Re: the puck lights. They are a fab idea, however, the sticky tape on the back sticks for crap, at least on the ones I purchased. They didn't stick for more than fifteen minutes in the close or anywhere else I tried to put them. They don't really have any other method for securing them, so now I have LED coasters. Not thrilled with this purchase.

I have a set of 3 of these in the back portion of my closet, which is long and narrow. The quality of light is very poor. I find myself not even bothering to turn them on. If you have no other lighting and no other options, they may be fine.

I've been looking for something like this! My apartment has a long entry hall with a long walk-in closet along one side, and NO LIGHTING in either the hall or the closet--and, of course, no outlets in the hall or the closet into which I might plug a lamp. Thanks!

Stick-up lights like these were lifesavers in my first house, which was built in the 1940s and had minimal lighting and outlets. I'm sure these would be even better, being brighter LEDs. I had a couple of closets with no lighting, and the lights made it much easier to take stock and keep up on what was hiding in the corners.
