and your arguments are the exact reason why millions of americans are jobless. Want to have a shelf for 20 bucks? Fine, but don’t blame the politicians if there are no more jobs in the US. It’s us, the people that need to change our consumer behaviour, we need to take responsibility for our own future. People need to understand, that its simply not possible to produce a shelf for 20 bucks within the US borders and under humane conditions. Whoever buys a shelf from China for 20 bucks helps to get rid of his own job and helps to suppress people in other countries that are working under the slavery conditions we were fighting against during the Civil War.

Are you kidding?

The question isn’t how much it costs to produce, or what is the MSRP. It’s how much the customer is willing to pay for it. And there is simply no way that most of the people I know would be willing to pay US $140 for that shelf. It looks cheap (not in the good way), but it’s not, and that’s never a good combination.

With that said, I totally love the Eiger North Light, by the same guy. Perfect gift for an ice climber. Or someone like me who just wants to beat things up.

It seems non of you guys has ever produced anything for the market. It is not the question how much it costs in production, but what will be the MSRP. Let’s say the shelf costs 30 Dollars in production and the manufacturer wants to make 10Dollars per unit. That makes 40 Dollars. Now the retailer wants at least (and thats normal) an additional 50%. We are at 80 Dollars. Now, depending which State you live in, there is a tax of let’s say 10%. That makes a retail price of 90 Dollars. The manufacturer wants to sell the shelf abroad as well. sales agents take another 30% of the 40 Dollars, which means the manufacturer needs to correct the 40 Dollars to at least 55Dollars not to make a minus himself. 55Dollars times two + 10% tax makes a final retail price of 121 Dollars. And in this case, the manufaturer has just earned a lousy 8.5 bucks.

Now please think twice about your comments and products you buy!

I agree that while these are practical, they aren’t exactly pleasing to the eye, and the price certainly isn’t justified.

I recommend one of us steal this idea, and we’ll make it prettier and more reasonably priced. Ha!

wow. $140 for something that can be stamped out on a C and C machine in seconds. Even with the current price of steel these people must be making a killing.

It’s a neat idea, but I think it’s dreadfully ugly. I would hate to have that hanging on my wall. Give me a simple black wooden shelf any day.

The idea of these shelves is great…execution, not so much. They definitely aren’t very attractive.

Hmm, it’s a pity that you damage the metal while bending the shelf.
You can see it in the movie when it is fixed, the black color is abraded.

Simple idea. Well executed. Hopefully inexpensive. GBreat on a brick wall with mid-century furniture. But as a long time admirer of great design-that which transcends styles, and periods and all the rest, I can only say to the designer, “keep trying.” These are simply not attractive.

I have the wall mag rack, which I love. I did have some trouble with shipping, though. The metal is very pliable and the thing kept arriving bent.
