I know this is an old post, but...
Sue said: "I am slightly bothered by the two shelves under the window – they don’t seem to be even"

That is an artifact on binding two metro shelves together. If you look closely (or are familiar with the systems) you can see that one leg supports the left and right "bookcases", requiring one shelf to be slightly above or below the other. I just recently struggled with this in my own minimalist office.

Very nice, lively and vibrant room. I especially love the bike hanging from the ceiling - novel idea indeed!

@BMY -- This place has no clutter that I can see. I think that the step ladder and tripod are fine, especially if he is constantly pulling them out to use them. You are saying that his space isn't a minimalist dwelling, which it's not. Uncluttered and minimalist aren't the same thing. I don't see any mess and everything has a place. It's great!

@Jen -- Why would someone have a mini-fridge in an efficiency? The kitchen is literally right behind the couch. I assumed it was a filing cabinet because I couldn't see a plug or a hinge. The orange thing in the upper left-hand corner is a sticker in the shape of an arrow. That would be hysterical if it were a mini-fridge.

Actually I believe the small cream box under the TV is a mini fridge, not a filing cabinet.

Very organized but cluttered. That right corner wall space is hardly being used. Excellent idea for the bike storage though. Tripod and ladder should be compacted if not in use

Metro shelving can hold up to 800 lbs per shelf and the s connectors allow for the same weight support

You do get the unevenness shelf problem with the Metro shelving (you can't attach 2 shelf holders at the same point on the posts), but I have seen S-hook connectors, made by Metro, on the Web for this situation. I've never tried them, though, and for books, I'd be wary that it could hold the weight of what's on the shelves. Looks like our WoW person is storing DVDs on them--so if you try them, they might work fine! So the options with Metro are you can either get 2 additional posts or just have the shelves uneven. One costs money, the other doesn't.

(and let's not hate on the sofa--it's probably quite comfy and came cheap, allowing our WoW person to spend money on the good stuff!)

I like it! Yay, a WofW with color! I love the green wall - I could not live in an all white space, that would be so drab.

That is the ugliest sofa I have ever seen. They invested in the TV, I think they should invest in a sofa.

I really love this one - stuff is still in view but contained. It's not sterile, but it's not a cluttered mess. I am slightly bothered by the two shelves under the window - they don't seem to be even.
